Al Bastakiya Textile Souk

Dear Parents,
For our new Unit of Inquiry entitled The Souk, the Grade 4 students will be taking a
field trip to the textile souk in Al Bastakiya. The field trip will take place on two dates:
Tuesday January 6th 2015 (4BA, 4SA, 4PT, 4SB) and Wednesday January 7th 2015 (4KC,
4RB, 4LJ)
We will be inquiring into how market places respond to the forces of supply and
demand and the roles and responsibilities within a business. Students will be
guided through the souk to explore and will also have the opportunity to talk to
business owners. The students will be in groups of five with one adult supervising that
group.
We will eat a snack during the field trip and return to school in time for lunch. Please
send your child to school with a packed snack on this day.
Each class will require four parent volunteers to come on the field trip. Thank you for
