Themes:
OPTION TWO – Creation of a scene based on the novel as a modern adaptation. Your adaptation needs to be relevant to a
specific themes, motifs, and concepts from the novel, yet translated into a feasible scenario for 2010. The final product is a
film. The film could be created using: live action, stop motion, stills, or a teacher approved alternative.
ESSENTIAL QUESTION- Do the candidates demonstrate a deep understanding of the novel? *It needs to be clearly apparent
that you “get” the themes. Any omittance to key elements/concepts will drastically lower the overall effect and thus one’s
grade. Any interpretation that is a contradiction to the original novel’s tone, mood, and fundamental themes will also
drastically lower the overall effect and thus one’s grade.
Sentiment of the scene
The original sentiment and mood of the novel was clearly evident in the EXCELLENT GOOD FAIR POOR
media interpretation. Major themes and motifs are portrayed in the piece.

Title of Scene
One can easily see the correlation between your piece and Shelley’s work. 10 9-8 7-6 5-0

Distribution of Work- Equal distribution of work load/responsibility. You have

properly completed and submitted the work distribution documentation.

Adaptation - Your modern adaptation is a relevant one- it makes sense both

with the original nature of the novel and with modern conventions. Your spin
on the scene is creative and thought-provoking.

Editing- Editing of the film enhanced the overall aesthetic. Scene transition
was fluid.
Supplemental audio levels were at an appropriate level to not hinder
dialogue.
Length- The scene depicted was at a reasonable length. A viewer, unfamiliar
with the novel, could have a reasonable understanding scene. I.e. one is not
completely lost as to what is going on in terms of plot.
Oral - Words are pronounced correctly, voices are heard. Your speech is
animated based on the dictation of the scene- not robotic and drab.
