Course Summary: The course is set up to meet the Common Core State Standards for Geometry set by the state. It
builds on the study of relationships between angles, triangles, quadrilaterals, and circles developed in middle school.
Topics covered include right angle trigonometry, transformations of functions and a study of formal logic and proofs.
Supplies List:
3-ring binder
4 dividers
Loose leaf paper
Pencils
Calculator (TI-83/TI-84) If you dont have your own calculator I will have one for you to use during class, but it
cannot be taken home to assist on homework.
Grading Policy:

Other Assessments (Quizzes, Projects, Labs, Binder Quizzes/Formal Writing)
Homework (homework assignments, warm-ups, exit slips, class contribution, and informal writing)

50%
30%
20%

Binders:
Students are expected to keep a three-ring binder and bring it to class EVERYDAY. This binder should be
divided into four sections labeled: Warm-ups/Exit Slips, Notes, Classwork/Homework, and Quizzes/Review
Sheets. Everything in each section should be in chronological order from the beginning of the semester to the
present topic.
Unit/Chapter Tests:
There will be a unit/chapter test at the end of each unit. There will be NO RETAKES on any of the unit
tests.
If a student has an UNEXCUSED absence on the day of a test or quiz then they will receive a ZERO on
that assessment.
Classwork/Homework Policy:
All homework assignments are due at the beginning of the hour and are expected to be fully completed.
Homework credit is earned by completion (other than writing assignments). For these problems the
answers will be read in class or in the back of the book. It is the students responsibility to ask questions
either during class or during office hours. Some Homework will be randomly collected and graded.
Late work will NOT be accepted. If you have an excused absence you have the same number of days
you were absent to turn in your work. It is YOUR responsibility to get the work and notes that you
missed.

Classwork must be completed and shown to Ms. Suh before leaving. If the work in not done correctly in
class, then you are expected to come see me before or after school or at lunch to get the help needed and
receive credit.
Writing Assignments:
Writing assignments will be given consistently throughout each unit.
Formal (Public) writing assignments will be given during each unit and will count towards a quiz grade
in the Other Assessments category.
Informal (Writing to Learn) writing assignments will be given daily in homework assignments, or as
classwork.
Performance Tasks:
There will be a performance task given for each unit.
A performance task is an activity completed in class and will count towards the Common Assessments
part of the grade.
Performance tasks will vary from group work to individual work depending on the unit.
Warm-Up Policy:
All Warm-Ups must be completed at the beginning of the hour.
These activities are essential to reviewing and self assessing previous material. They will also be used for
your class contribution score.
Classroom Policy:
There is one expectation that encompasses everything in our class: Treat others as you would like to be treated.
The golden rule takes care of everything. I love teaching and am look forward to working with you. Respect is a
two way street, I will respect you and I expect the same in return.
Classroom Procedures/Expectations:
Be in your seat when the bell rings and begin working on the warm-up. This means before the bell rings
you should have picked up all of the materials for the day, have your pencils ready, and have the previous
nights homework on your desk.
Leave all backpacks, book bags, purses and cell phones in your locker because they are not allowed in the
classroom. If you bring one to class you will have to keep it in the designated bin from bell to bell.
Class is not dismissed until all classroom supplies (including calculators) are returned to their proper
location and I say you can leave.
Passes are given in emergency situations only. Please refrain from asking unless it is an emergency.
School policy states you must have YOUR agenda to receive a pass.
Consequences:
Correction of behavior and Verbal Warning
Classroom detention
Referral to administration
***Any behavior that is severe will result in direct referral to administration***
