Page 2, Q3. Describe your experience in this course.

My experience in this course was alright. But Ms. Lee tends to punish us unfairly. I also believe that we are definitely not
learning Mandarin as efficiently or quickly as possible. There have only been two types of assessments this entire year,
orals and quizzes. And the orals are not written, just memorizing the textbook and saying it. These assessments include
no creative aspect. The learning environment is not positive because Ms. Lee will yell at you if you drop your pencil.

Jan 17, 2014 10:23 AM

We spend a lot of time making sure we are saying the words to make sure they are correct and we write the characters
down so she can cheek to see if there right.

Jan 17, 2014 10:20 AM

In this course i have noticed that sometimes i cannot understand somethings due to the slow learning course i had last in
year in Mandarin A. i believe that she is a great teacher and will still be great next year and for the rest of the spring
semester.

Jan 17, 2014 10:19 AM

This is easily my least favorite course this year. After every lunch period, I dread going to Mandarin class because I know
I will be yelled at for some ridiculous thing that I do, such as whistle during class, or pick up a pencil. It is almost never
pleasant going to her class. Now that I am already in Mandarin for two years, I can't switch out, and that makes me very
sad.

Jan 17, 2014 10:18 AM

Our class progress slowly, but I have learned all of the subject that we have learned.

Jan 17, 2014 10:16 AM

I like mandarin because I like to learn Chinese and I think she teaches us well. She is somewhat harsh but im ok with that

Page 2, Q4. How effectively do the assignments and in-class activities help you understand the material and develop your skills? Please be specific.

The in class activities don't really help. Just reading the same sentence in the textbook every day doesn't really help. I
believe we should do more interactive activities.

Jan 17, 2014 10:23 AM

we have a lot oral so she can hear us individually and see our fluency.

Jan 17, 2014 10:20 AM

the assignments and in class activities are not as helpful as my other classes but help me better understand the actual
word in depth.

Jan 17, 2014 10:19 AM

The in-class activities are fine, she just teaches us the words and we write them down. The homework she gives us in the
book is good.

Jan 17, 2014 10:18 AM

They help me better understand the subject because they main assignments is to be remember the words we learn.

Jan 17, 2014 10:16 AM

They help me because it helps me remember the meaning, how to write them, and the pinyin easier to remember
because the write down the words a lot in the homework

Page 2, Q5. What has been most effective for you about this instructor's teaching? What has been least effective for you about this instructor's teaching?

Most effective is when Ms. Lee tells us stories that are related to what we are learning. Least effective was the fact that
Ms. Lee keeps getting mad for bad reasons.

Jan 17, 2014 10:23 AM

The most affective is the oral and having to speak out loud and not just reading. It is hard when she say a sentence
really fast and it is hard to understand and comprehend.

Jan 17, 2014 10:20 AM

The most effective way she teaches is by using e-stroke and the least effective thing is letting the kids is do the orals but
as a little read aloud because not all of us read the same thing.

Jan 17, 2014 10:19 AM

The most effective thing is the models she makes, such as using stuffed animals to teach us about animals. The least
effective thing is that she gets very angry at us quite easily, and that she compares us to her different classes inside and
out of school.

Jan 17, 2014 10:18 AM

The most effeictive thing is when we go off the text book and learn about stuff that is exciting for us.

Jan 17, 2014 10:16 AM

the most effective is when she writes on the board because i am a visual learner and it easier to learn like that. The least
effective way is when we do oral because I cant really remember what i need to say sometimes.
