Hacienda Placemat Pattern

MATERIALS REQUIRED:
DRITZ Luxury Belastraw Art. 110, 5 tubes White
DRITZ Multicolor Belastraw Art. 110-M, 3 tubes Multi-Mexicana
DRITZ Metal Crochet Hook No. 2

The above amount of material is sufficient to make 2 place mats each about 12" x 18" and a runner about 12" x 24".
PLACE MAT:With White ch 39 to measure about 6".
1st rnd: 4 dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in 34 ch, 5 dc in last ch; then working along oppo-site side of starting chain make dc in 34 ch.
Insert hook in 3rd st of starting chain, drop White, pick up Mexicana and pull loop throughalways change color in this way.
Hereafter work in the back loop of each st.
2nd rnd: Ch 3, in same place as sl st make hdc and sc, sc in 3 dc, in next dc make sc, hdc, dc, hdc, and sc (corner), sc in 34 dc,
make a corner in next dc, sc in 3 dc, corner, sc in 34 dc, sc and hdc in same place as first 2 sts of rnd. Change color in joining sl st.
3rd rnd: Ch 3, 2 dc in same place as sl st, * dc in each st to center st of next corner, 5 dc in center st. Repeat from * around ending
with 2 dc in same place as first 2 dc. Change color in joining sl st.
4th rnd: Ch 3, in same place as sl st make hdc and sc, * sc in each dc to center dc of next corner, in center dc make sc, hdc, dc,
hdc and sc. Repeat from * around ending with sc and hdc in same place as first 2 sts of rnd. Change color in joining sl st. Repeat
3rd and 4th rnds alternately 7 times; then repeat 3rd rnd once more. End off.
RUNNER:With White ch 75 to measure about 12".
1st rnd: 4 dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in 70 ch, 5 dc in last ch; then working along oppo-site side of starting chain make dc in 70 ch.
Insert hook in 3rd st of starting chain, drop White, pick up Mexicana and pull loop throughalways change color this way.
Here-after work in the back loop only of each st.
Continue same as place mat.
Press pieces through damp cloth with warm iron.
