Andy Warhol was the most popular figure in the

pop art movement that came up in the 1950s in


the United States and Great Britain.
He was born on August 6 1928 and he died in
1959
Among his most famous paintings were comic
strips, images of Marylyn Monroe, Muhammad
Ali, Coca Cola bottles and the electric chair. His
probably best known painting was the famous
Campbell soup can.

Pop art was developed in the late 1950's.


It was developed primarily in the United States and
Britain. In the US, it was linked to the wealth and
prosperity of the post World War II era, and artists of
the movement responded to the nation's consumer
society.

Pop art is full of vibrant eye catching colours and is


often made up of every day objects made to look like
cartoons.

Dej Stijl was founded in 1917. In a narrower sense, the term De Stijl is used to refer to a body of work from 1917
to 1931 founded in the Netherlands
The colours that are used in this style are mainly the three primary colours. The exciting thing about this style is
that you can include a variation of different colours that work well together. The colours used are always solid
block colours.
As mentioned above, another name for Dej Stijl is neoplasticism.

he died on February 1 1944
He was a famous abstract painter
and his most famous painting was
his basic black lines and colour
square picture. Showing a grid like
form.

Ettore Sottsass was the main designer in the


Memphis designs style. He lived from 14
September 1917 31 December 2007 and was
an Italian architect and designer of the late
20th century. His body of designs included
furniture, jewellery, glass, lighting and office
machine design. One of his most famous pieces
of work is his typewriter, seen below.

design through their gaudy ornamental and
decorative products. The Memphis design
group produced many memorable pieces
of colourful, bright, and innovative
furniture, lighting, and textiles, and even
clocks.
Other designers included Alessandro
Mendini, Martine Bedin, Andrea Branzi,
Aldo Cibic, Michele de Lucchi, Nathalie du
Pasquier, Michael Graves.
It began in Italy in 1981, and Ettore Sotsass
was the main lead designer.
The wadrobe is famous piece of work.

Bauhaus, was a school in Germany that combined crafts and the fine arts, and was
famous for the approach to design that it publicized and taught. It operated from
1919 to 1933. The Bauhaus school was founded by Walter Gropius in Weimar. In
spite of its name, and the fact that its founder was an architect, the Bauhaus did not
have an architecture department during the first years of its existence.

Walter Gropios was a German architect and founder of the Bauhaus


School, who, along with Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, Le Corbusier
and Oscar Niemeyer, is widely regarded as one of the pioneering
masters of modern architecture.
Gropius most famous work is his door handles, now considered an
icon of 20th-century.
