Principles of Engineering
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This STEM course will focus on contents that can be applied to solve problems. As more and more
jobs demand advanced skills, requiring that people be able to learn, reason, think creatively, make
decisions, and solve problems. An understanding of science, technology, engineering, and
mathematics and their methods contribute in an essential way to these skills. This course intention
and purpose is to educate students in a main line method providing STEM education for
everyone. While providing STEM based education for all students, those interested in becoming
practicing engineers will clearly benefit from this courses content.

COURSE OUTLINE:
The ET is a yearlong course that is divided into twenty-three (23) units that will be covered based on
the self-pace of this course. Each unit, based on the Tennessee Board of Education STEM core,
has been outlined, which includes PowerPoint presentations, reading assignments, quizzes, videos,
tutorials, simulations, and tests; and according to the evaluation of each student and their progress,
additional assignments may or may not be added.
* The activities/projects assigned for each unit are subject to change. Therefore, all
activities/projects will be issued in the lab and must be completed in the lab, so please see
your (Ms. Anderson) assigned instructor for each unit activity/project.

COURSE CALENDAR:
Below are dates to give you a timeframe for the units that will be covered during the spring
semester of 2015. The course is self-pace; thus, you are not required to complete these
assignments by a specific date. You will ALWAYS have an opportunity to make up any
assignment as well as retry an assignment to get a better grade. This calendar is designed to give
you structure yet plenty of flexibility. Your success is our mission.
