Comparison analysis of Holiday Inn East Taipei and Fullon Taipei
Hotel
Holiday Inn is a multinational brand of hotels, its part of the
British InterContinental Hotels Group. Today its one of the world's
largest hotel chains, with 435,299 bedrooms in 3,463 hotels globally
hosting over 100 million guest nights each year. It was founded in
August 1, 1952 at Memphis, Tennessee. The founder of the company
was Kemmons Wilson. The headquarter is at Denham, England. The
number of the locations is 3,414. Holiday Inn provides food services,
lodging, conventions, meetings and timeshares. The brands are
including Holiday Inn hotel and resort, Holiday Inn Select, Holiday
Inn Sunspree Resorts, Holiday Inn Club Vacations, Holiday Inn
Garden Court and Holiday Inn Express.
The strengths of Holiday Inn: first, high brand recall and
visibilities due to
excellent advertising. Second, chain style western hotels, IHG
member. Third,
great guest service, staffs are professional and courteous, attentive.

Fourth,
offers spacious rooms at affordable rate compared to normal. Fifth,
business
hotel with basic facilities, free shuttle run every hour, room is well
appointed
with all electronic gadgets, Wi-Fi. Sixth, do most of business with
huge tour

groups, room occupancy rate is higher than others.
The weakness of Holiday Inn: first, Location is far from downtown
and
airport, no attraction nearby. Second, high number of competitors in
local means
limited market share. Third, decor is dated; lobby is very busy and
crowded,
noisy, front lobby is not modern. Fourth, food no change in varieties,
no
swimming pool or other luxury.
The opportunities of Holiday Inn: first, high potential in emerging
market
especially with tour groups from Mainland China. Second, innovation
in
customer services, smooth check-in, upgrades rooms. Third,

renovate facilities,
bathroom etc. to digitalize and better use of technology, improve
food service.
The threats of Holiday Inn: first, new entry of several international
brands hotel
such as Marriot, Ramada Inn opened up in Taipei. Second, increasing
costs for
operation affecting hotel rates. Third, stagnated growth, decline in
tourism
industry due to hot weather, bird flu etc.
The main competitor of Holiday Inn is Fullon Taipei Hotel. It is a
three
star hotel, it was founded in 2002 and the founder is Bo-Tiang Wu.
Its slogan is
full smile brings friendship. Its sector is tourism, the segment is midmarket and
domestic cooperation. Its target markets are mainly
leisure travelers, corporate, families, extended stay. The location of
Fullon is a lot
better and convenient than Holiday Inn in Taipei city. There are 120
rooms in
total, but the room prices are more expensive than Holiday Inn. Its
business

model is that it has more domestic guests, and less foreign
travellers. The
philosophy of Fullon is to make every business trip a pleasure.
The strengths of Fullon Taipei Hotel are that its newly built,
stylish rooms,
the decorations are more modern, excellent club facilities has more
convention
function rooms, swimming pool, sanna, spa which Holiday Inn dont
have. Also,
Fullons customer service is friendly and courteous. The weaknesses
of it are that
the rates are much higher, and there are no international reputation,
breakfast
terrible, motel nearby took up market share. Also, their employees
dont have
strong language skills, some language barriers may occur.

Both Holiday Inn and Fullon Taipei have their own strengths and
weaknesses. They have their own advantages and disadvantages.
The most
important thing for them to do is to find out their own weaknesses
and try their

best to improve them, and continue with the good works. Most
importantly, treat
customers and the guests the way everyone wants to be treated.
Sincerity,
kindness, friendliness and courteous are the biggest reasons to
attract the
visitors around the world to come over.
