TEST
A) PRELIMINARY OPERATIONS
a) Turn changeover switch for functions selection on 'PURE CUT'.
b) Turn the power adjustment potentiometer 'POWER' counterclockwise (MIN).
c) Set mains switch on 'OFF-O'.
d) Remove the F2 fuse.
e) Plug in main cable.
f) Plug in pedal in the rear panel socket .
g) Turn ON the unit and verify that neutral plate alarm is ON (red light on the panel and the acoustic alarm).
h) Connect neutral plate to the socket (alarm is OFF now).
B) INPUT SECTION
1) VOLTAGE CHECK '+12V' AND '+5V' (TP1, TP2)

a) Set vertical sensibility of the oscilloscope at 2V/div (DC mode).

b) Connect the probe on TP1 test point
c) Switch the unit ON.
d) Check that voltage is between 11.7V and 12.4V.
e) Set on AC mode the oscilloscope and vertical sensibility at 0.1V/div; check ripple tension doesn't exceed 10 mVpp.
f) Connect the probe on TP2 test point (Vert:1V/div; 'DC').
g) Check that voltage is between 4.7V and 5.3V.
2) VOLTAGE CHECK +70V (TP3)

a) Switch the unit OFF.

b) Place F2 fuse (4A T type) in its fuse-holder.
c) Set vertical sensibility of the oscilloscope at 20V/div (DC mode).
d) Switch the ON unit and check that on test point TP3, when mains is 230V, voltage is 7178 V
e) Switch the unit OFF and remove the F2 fuse.
C) RADIO-FREQUENCY SECTION
1) WORK FREQUENCY CHECK (TP4)

a) Connect the frequency-meter on test point TP4.

b) Switch the unit ON and ckeck that frequency is 950 kHz ( 10 kHz).

2/13

c) Activate the unit and check the following waveform:

[TP4]

Vert:(DC) 1V/div
Orizz:0.2s/div

0
2) RAMP CALIBRATION (TP5, R7)

a) With the selector mode on 'CUT' and the unit activated, adjust R7 trimmer in order to obtain a waveform on TP5 like the
following:
[TP5]

Vert:(DC) 1V/div
Orizz:0.2s/div

3) DEAD TIME CALIBRATION (TP6,TP7, R7)

a) Turn power control potentiometer 'POWER' all clockwise (MAX).

b) Connect the probe '1' on TP6 and the probe '2' on TP7.
c) With the unit activated, set trimmer R7 in order to obtain a dead time (when both signals are on ZERO) equal to 150ns.
TP6 ADD, INVERT TP7

Vert:(DC)5V/div
Orizz:500ns/div

4) COAGULATION PERIOD CHECK (TP8)

a) Set the selector mode on 'BLEND CUT'.

b) Set the potentiometer for power level adjustment all counterclockwise (MIN).

3/13

c) Check 'BLEND 'min. level comparing to the following waveforms:

[TP8]
[TP8]

Vert:(DC)2V/div
Orizz:5s/div

Vert:(DC)2V/div
Orizz:100s/div

d) Turn power control 'POWER' all clockwise (MAX).

e) Check BLEND max level comparing to the following waveforms:
[TP8]

Vert:(DC)2V/div
Orizz:10s/div

0
f) Set selector mode on 'C. MACRO' and repeat points from 'a)' to 'e)'.
g) Set selector mode on 'C. MICRO'.
h) Turn power control all counterclockwise (MIN)
i) Check the following waveform:
[TP8]

Vert:(DC)2V/div
Orizz:200s/div

0
l) Turn power control all clockwise (MAX).
m) Check the following waveform:
[TP8]

Vert:(DC)2V/div
Orizz:20s/div

4/13

5) HF OUTPUT AMPLIFIER CHECK (TP9, TP10)

a) Switch OFF the unit.

b) Place F2 fuse in its fuse-holder.
c) Connect a 500 ohms non-inductive load to the output sockets.
d) Set the functions selection on 'PURE CUT'.
e) Turn all clockwise power control (MAX).
f) Switch ON and activate the unit.
g) Check the following waveforms:
[TP9, TP10]

Vert:(DC)20V/div
Orizz:500ns/div

6) CURRENT LIMITATION CALIBRATION (R36)

a) Connect to the output sockets ('MONO') a non-inductive 50 ohms load

b) Switch ON and activate (by pedal) the unit
c) Turn 'R36' trimmer in order to obtain a delivered current of 0.8 Amps

Check if the unit withstand short-circuits. To avoid a damage in the unit, this check must be done for few seconds only.
7) CALIBRATION OF REVERSE FEEDBACK LEVEL ( TP11, R24)

a) Set selection mode on 'PURE CUT'.

b) Turn all counterclockwise (MIN) power control potentiometer.
c) Connect a non-inductive 500 ohms load to the output sockets.

8) OUTPUT POWER LEVEL CHECK

a) Turn all clockwise (MAX) power control potentiometer.

b) Connect a non-inductive 500 ohms load to the output sockets.
c) Connect the current probe in series to the load.
d) Activate the unit.
e) Check delivered current (this must be equal to 0.48 Amps)
If these values are out of range, turn trimmer R7 to carry values in the range.
f) Check the current waveform is the following:
IL

In BLEND CUT mode, activate the unit (on a 500 ohms load) and verify the delivered current is equal to 0.40 Amps
In C. MACRO mode, activate the unit (on a 200 ohms load ) and verify the delivered currents must be equal to 0.54 Amps

6/13

The current waveform in bipolar PURE CUT function with 100 ohms load is the following:
IL

Vert:(DC)0.5A/div
Orizz:500ns/div

Check that high-frequency leakage currents not exceeding 150 mA (according to International Standard CEI EN60601-22) in monopolar mode (figure 1). In bipolar mode (figure 2) the HF leakage current must be less of 1% of total power
in this function.
