Explain why this characteristic is important to include based on
your previous research.

A.

Essential characteristics:

1.

My project must have a good aspect: should have colours that

will attract my target audience(teens and adults) such as purple,
blue or orange; should have

the appearance of the screencast is important because is the

first thing the audience notices when watching it, and if it doesnt
have aesthetics that will appeal them,they wont continue
watching it because it will be boring.

2.

My screencast must have all the essential tools and functions

that the target audience needs and wants to know (so that they
can work with the software) and information that most dont knew
it existed or that want to know how/when to use it.

this characteristic is important because the audience wants to

learn the basics and if they already know the basics they want to
learn the more difficult (but essential) information in a simpler
way. And because I must give the audience what they want to
know because if I dont please them (have the right information
on my screencast),they wont watch my screencast.

3.

The screencast mustnt be too long, it must last at least 5 mins

and no more than 10 mins.

Because if it too long the audience will become bored during the
screencast and wont watch it till the end.

4.

It has to have music that attracts all the different age groups that
are part of my target audience, such as pop music, blues or a
classic and simple music for the background.

Because music turns every tutorial less boring, especially if

attracts the target audience - music of their liking.

5.

help people to be more environment friendly`, by stating the

advantages of onenote over a paper notebook.

when the audience learn how to use and work with onenote they
will prefer to use the digital writing note than use the usual paper
notebook.

6.

must have a good and plain narration, so that the audience

understand the explanation given.

It is important that my screencast have a good narration

because if the audience understand the screencast they will
continue to watch it and if it simple and brief better because
nowadays most people dont have time to watch a 15-20 minutes
video and they prefer a short by clear video - and thats my aim.

7.

The zooming effect must be effectively used.

Because the zooming effect allows the audience to view better

the tools and/or functions that are more important or are difficult
to see

8.

It must be easily accessible in my youtube channel.

It important because if I want to have a large number of viewers

my tutorial has to have a simple name so that the people can
watch it without loosing time searching for it

9.

The video must have a good record quality

The quality is important because the better the quality the more
viewers Ill have because it is more difficult to seen a video with
bad image quality

10.

My tutorial must be divided by different sections that are clear

and with big font size.

With different sections the video becomes much more

organized.

I would like to have video effects on it

because it would attract more the target audience and they

would be more appealed to watch the tutorial

I would like to have also portuguese subtitles

because my aim is to appeal and please all my target audience

which means put subtitles on my screencast - since not all
people can speak and/or understand english here in
Mozambique.

a. Plain voice narration

Important for the tutorial because is the

main way to explain the audience the
topic

It s limited because it is a very simple

and basic style.
And the disadvantages are that it is
boring because its too simple and its
a style that it wont attract most of the
target audience

b. Voice + camera

For me this isnt a possible application

I think that the video would distract

the audience - most of them would be
paying attention to the video instead of
the actual tutorial

c. Typing instructions
instead of talking

For me this isnt a possible application

For me it is unnecessary because you

waste a lot of time typing and it is
more simpler, easier and efficient to
talk

d. Use of background
music

It important because it a style that

appeals more the audience

but if put too loud it can obfuscate the

voice of the person who is doing the
tutorial

e. Using titles to divide

into different
sections

its a possible application because the

tutorial becomes much more organized

but it would take much more time to

do it (especially if it has a lot of
different subtopics) and the tutorial
would probably be longer

f. Zooming +
annotating

its a possible application because

zooming it would give a much clearer
view to the audience and annotating
would made it easier and
understandable to the audience

for me it doesnt have disadvantages

and/or limitations

g. Double screen

It is nice because you can show

different things, topics, perspectives, etc
at the same time and tutorial

it isnt that so useful for me because

Im not aiming to show to different
things at the same time, for example

h. Using green screen

technique

It can be useful because you can

appear at the screencast and give a
different effect to the screencast

Its irrelevant because for me theres

no need to use green screen for this
tutorial

maybe is too short, dont have all the visual effects that I would like to have, the screencast tool is screencast-o-matic and not
