This class is seventh grade Language Arts and we will be focusing on the SpringBoard
Curriculum. In this course, students will be exposed to argumentative writing, literary analysis,
conventions and grammar, a poetry unit, articles from scholarly sources as well as the study of
novels from various cultural backgrounds. These novels include:
Late Work
Students will have the number of days which they missed to complete missing work
(known as the grace period). If a student was absent for two days, for example, they
have two days to complete and turn in their missing assignments.
Each day after the grace period will result in a 10% grade deduction until the 5th day,
which is the last day that students may turn the assignment in for points.
Students may also participate in amnesty week at the end of each semester, which will
allow students to submit all late work for half credit.
Absences
Excused Absences: It will be the students responsibility to find out and make up what
they missed while absent. If work was assigned while a student is absent, students are to
first check the absent folder which will have several copies of any assignment sheets
or worksheets that students missed while absent. Only after checking the folder should
students approach teacher with any questions about their absence.
Unexcused Absences: Unexcused work will automatically receive half credit and will
not be eligible for amnesty week.
