The Mental Health Worker reports to the Health Services Department Manager and Clinic Manager.
Position Summary
To provide clinical assessment, counselling, education and referral services to individuals, groups and families along with
health promotion services in the form of educational and primary prevention activities to members of the MChigeeng First
Nation.
Essential Functions
Ensure effective client services by providing clinical assessment and counselling (supportive, educational and skillsbuilding) for individuals, families and groups; and by recognizing client required services for complex or intensive
therapeutic nature) and make appropriate referrals
Facilitate effective clinic services by participating in intake and case reviews, following case reporting procedures and
collecting data relevant to client needs
Promote (holistic) mental health in community by implementing culturally appropriate programs, facilitating educational
presentations, develop preventative activities and provide information and consultation to other agencies and community
members regarding mental health issues to ensure awareness of services
Complete annual work plan and progress reports meeting program goals and objectives.
Research and provide documentation for continued enhancement of mental health service delivery
Assist with orientation and mentoring of new employees and supervise student placements as directed
Comply with MChigeeng First Nation personnel policy
Maintain strict confidentiality at all times
Qualifications and Requirements
Minimum, College Mental Health
Preferred, University
Good communication skills both written and verbal
Ability to travel and work flexible hours; working knowledge of computer and software needed for program service
Aware and have understanding of Social Services legislation
Valid driver license; Understanding of Anishnabek culture, fluency in the language is a strong asset

It is mandatory for the successful candidate to submit a current thirty (30) day VSS; offer of employment will be
subject to the receipt of a satisfactory VSS record.
