Behavioral

Management Plan
Aleigha Simerly

First day of class

As students are arriving for the first day of second
grade, I am making sure that I have fully prepared
myself for the start of a new school year.
I will begin by starting off when the students
arrive by allowing them to follow directions to put
their book bags and coats away as well as getting
them to their seats to get the first day started.
As soon as all students have arrived, I will start off
by introducing myself (that is if the students
havent all met me yet).

Next up is the classroom

rules!
1. Follow directions.
2. Treat others how you want to be treated.
3. Clean up after yourself.
4. Help each other.
5. Say please and thank you.
6. Always tell the truth.
7. Be curious and ask lots of questions!
8. Never give up!

Behavior Chart
We will have a behavior
chart like the one on the
right; this will allow us to
keep track of students
behavior throughout each
school day.
Each student will begin the
day on green.
If a student shall act out,
they get a warning. The
second time that they are
not following directions,
they will have to flip their
card to yellow. This will
result in losing 5 minutes
of recess time.

Behavior Chart (continued)

If the behavior continues
throughout the day, the student
will have to flip their card to red.
The repercussions of their card
being on red is losing the whole
amount of time during recess. If I
feel necessary, I will make a
phone call to the parents to make
them aware of the behavior that
is occurring.
If the childs behavior improves
throughout the day, they can
always end up back on green.
They have to be willing to work
hard to get back to good
standing.
Students must remember that a
log will be going home daily to
track their behavior.

Weekly Behavior Log

There will be a behavior
log sent home every day.
A child should have a
folder to be able to
transport this behavior log
along with homework
assignments.
I would like parents to
review their childs
behavior and return it the
next day initialed so I know
that they have seen it.

On the next slide, I

have included a copy of
what my behavior log
would look like.
I will mark red, yellow,
or green for their
behavior for the day.
Students will have
feedback in the
comment box if they
received a yellow or red
card for the day.

Incentives in the
Classroom
Students will receive a sticker for every day they
receive green on the behavior chart.
If students bring back their weekly behavior log for
all five days with initials, they receive a sticker as
well.
The students will place their stickers on their
incentive charts; these charts will be next to the
behavior charts.
This will be a reminder to students about how
important good behavior is so that they will receive a
reward for their good behavior along with being
responsible.

Once a student fills up their

incentive chart with 25
stickers, they can receive a
prize out of the Incentive
Chest.
The student may decide to
save up their incentive
charts to receive multiple
prizes at the same time; it
is their responsibility to
keep track of where they
place the chart that is full.

Prizes in the Incentive

Chest would include:
No Homework Pass
Lunch with the Teacher
Extra Recess Pass
Line Leader Pass
Computer Time
Sit at the Teachers Desk
Sit Where You Want Pass
Read to the Class Pass
Read in the Hall Pass
Yum, Yum Chew Some
Gum
Wear Your Slippers to
School
Pick a Job

Classroom Layout
This is the layout that my classroom would have; I
grouped the students together the best that I saw fit.

Orange Group
Consists of:
Abigail
Peter
Avery
Katie

Blue Group

Cheyenna
Rosa
Sara
Mark

Purple
Evan
Group

Tamoo

I set the classroom up into groups

so team work could be used
throughout our daily lessons. Also,
I tried to split the groups up evenly
by strengths of each students; I
tried to spread the genders out as
evenly as I could. I put stronger
students (Sara, Evan, Mark, Avery,
& Tamoo) paired with students that
struggle in areas; I encourage my
students to help each other grow
academically.

Jobs in the Classroom

These jobs will help teach
the students responsibility
not only in the classroom
but outside of it as well.
The students will rotate
weekly so that students
dont get jealous of others
jobs.
The classroom jobs will be
posted on Monday on the
bulletin board when the
students arrive for the
school day.

Jobs will include:

Bathroom Monitor: report
misconduct to teacher
Line Leader: Lead the line
& model the proper
behavior in the hallway
Line Ender: Hold the door
for class & shut off lights
and close the door
Teacher Assistant: pass
out & collect papers along
with sharpening pencils
Housekeeper: Wipe down
tables, put up chairs, &
tidy up for dismissal
Homework Helper: Put
homework in folders, put
important papers in
folders, & pass them out

This would be a way to

incorporate Classroom Jobs

Behavior Modification due

to Student Differences

Cheyennas Plan
Her mother being unemployed does not teach Cheyenna how
important the work force is when grow up. Also, her mothers
drug addiction does not help bring her up in a supportive
environment.
Cheyennas grandmother plays a key role in her development.
She knows how important a childs education is.
The frequent absences from school could affect Cheyennas
development; she falls behind on classroom knowledge
Making a plan for getting Cheyenna to school on time and having
an encouraging learning environment would help Cheyenna
transform into a better student amidst the chaos at home
If grandma wasnt in the picture, Cheyenna would be far behind
the class along with being in class less frequently

Rosas Plan
Integrate more English into
Rosas lessons so that she is
better able to understand
how to speak English fluently
(ESL in todays classroom)
Also, have parents in ESL
environment as well so they
are learning English
alongside Rosa
Her interests appear to be
working at the restaurant and
playing basketball because
she is comfortable in those
settings
May become anxious in the
classroom because she
cant understand content at
times
May also feel uncomfortable
due to cultural differences

Integrate culture lessons

into the classroom setting
so people are better to
understand Rosas
lifestyles versus theirs
Would make Rosa more
comfortable & help
improve her grades by
learning stuff that she
knows
By making Rosa feel more
included, she may begin
doing better at focusing
on her grades.
This could be due to
integrating her culture to
the classroom or by her
parents becoming more
fluent in English.

Peters Plan
Peter may feel secluded due to being biracial; he is African
American and Hispanic there are no other students like him in
the classroom
Explain to the class about the African American culture and Hispanic
culture
One parent is part of one culture
The other has to do with the other culture

Peter being overweight and short can effect him because

everyone else in the classroom is in better shape than him.
Explain each childs lifestyle is different
Explain the importance of healthy choices and how they will impact
your future

Peter tends to get in fights due to not receiving the attention

that he needs at home
By assisting him to change his behavior in the classroom and at
school, his parents would see a change in him at home as well

By improving Peters behavior, we could begin working on his

grades.
A way to do so could be implementing video games into his lesson
plans so that he can learn doing something that he enjoys.

Katies Plan
Getting the class to
understand that children
are born with disabilities
and they should be
included in regular
classroom environments
Explain what Down
Syndrome is
Alters the course of
development
Integrating Katie into a
regular classroom allows
her to feel involved and
not secluded from a
regular classroom
environment

Katies mom not being

involved could greatly
affect outbursts in
Katies behavior
Needs attention and that
could be the reason
shes acting out
Her mom not coming to
parent teacher
conferences could make
it harder for me, as the
teacher, to communicate
effectively with her; this
could slow some of
Katies development

Closing up
I set up behavior plans for some of the
students that I believed would help the
classroom as a whole, not just the student
individually.
By integrating differences from each student,
the students are able to see the differences
amongst each other.
The students will also learn ways to help other
students
The last step Is getting all the students
behaviors on somewhat of the same
wavelength and the classroom as a whole will
grow and become a more encouraging
environment.
