DANCING RAISIN
Students Activity Guide
1. Pour about 500 mL club soda into a clear plastic cup filled with four or
five raisins.
2. Take note of anything that happens in the cup and record your
observations in your science notebook.
3. Why are the raisins bobbing up and down in the soda?
4. Take two clear cups and a small box of raisins.
5. Fill up one cup with 500 mL water and drop in four or five raisins.
6. Draw the setup in your science notebook and write detailed
observations.
7. Repeat the procedure with club soda and raisins in the other cup.
8. Draw the setup in your science notebook and write detailed
observations.
9. Share your written observations and any explanations.
10. How the raisin has changed in order to float up to the surface?
11. Write your explanations in your science notebook.
