Porcelain Rose

2012
Acrylic on wood
13 diameter
$150

Porcelain Rose is part of a series of flowers that were expressed with

slight abstraction in order to further emphasize the beauty they capture.
With the use of acrylic paint, Williams depicted a normal red rose. He then
proceeded to add different vibrant colors to the piece, using different
application techniques as to add volume to its environment. Williams goal
for Porcelain Rose is to show how much energy this particular species of
flower exists. It is an incredibly vibrant flower and is often downplayed as
a clich form of affection. Williams goal during this time is simply the
expression of his visual appreciation for this particular flower.

Share
2013
Oil and acrylic on wood
45 x 11.5
$500

Like Porcelain Rose, Share shows the same appreciation. The

difference is that it transitions into the snake, in particular, the cobra. The
flower is meticulously constructed with the acrylic paints and as the stem
lowers on the panel, it begins to thicken. It fluctuates in size and
intertwines with itself only to end at the head of a cobra. People perceive
the snake to be a representation of evil and something ugly. Williams
disagrees with the stigma of the snake. Just like the flower, the snake is
something delicate and although there are moments in which it hasnt the
best appearance, with nurturing and care it is a wonder to witness.

Desmond in Air
2013
Digital media
8.5 x 11
$200

Desmond in Air is a piece that is paying homage to a legend in dance,

Desmond Richardson. He is choreographer and co-founder of Complexions
Contemporary Ballet. Williams is a dancer as well as a fine artist. He is
interested in the vernacular of the human body. He is intrigued by the
muscular build of the human body as it makes different shapes and
contorts in different ways. This was the first step in his study of bodies in
motion. Using Adobe Photoshop, Williams used size three dots and with a
transparent guide layer copied the value of the figure. He wanted to show
the majestic qualities of Richardson and felt it best to do this while he is in
action.

Tilt
2014
Oil on wood panel
48 x 24
$500

Tilt is a painting done by Williams that involved his

experimentation with figure distortion, energy portrayal, and
movement appreciation. He has had a habit of working small for a
long time and used this opportunity to work on a much larger scale.
Using light colors in the background, Williams concentrated on the
saturation of color in the torso and one of the feet. He used tubular
shapes in order to depict the muscular intertwining of muscles in
the torso and the dissolving of the foot in the sky to further
emphasize the height of the figures extension. During this time,
Williams was looking for different methods to use when expressing
the dancer and the energy used to move in intriguing ways.

Forced Arch (motion series)

The motion series is a series of loosely applied oils and

other media made to exercise the loosening of mark-making.
They depict an obscure figure and background that gives the
piece an open feel, further emphasizing the energy in motion.
This is a gestural homage to dancers and a study of line.
Williams has decided to take the identity from his figures due
to the fact that he believes the dancer represents the display
of energy and human beauty. With the figures obscured, the
judgment of appearance is eliminated. He begins using more
vibrant color to add more volume to the paintings
environments. With all of these pieces, Williams is beginning
to make attempts at the viewers emotions in addition to
visual appreciation.

Energy in the first

2014
Oil on wood panel
20 x 6
$100

Energy in the first is a piece Williams used to take a break from the
figure. He wanted to depict energy with minimal representation. It was a
very quick piece used as a mechanism for brainstorming. He was figuring
out how to further express the use of energy in the body when in motion
or in stillness. Williams used colors in accordance to the muscular
intensity. Warm reds and oranges for contraction, cool blues and greens
for earthly rootedness, and white for lightness. It is one of Williams
simpler paintings and doesnt need much explanation.

Press from the Hip

2014
Oil on canvas
18 x 24
$250

Press from the Hip is a pivotal piece in

Williams work. The color palette is already
established so there was no need to concentrate
on that. His goal was to put emphasis on the
figure while depicting the energy used and
created. He wanted to show the spirit of dance
through multiple vessels and has accomplished
that. With the incorporation of different gestural
marks and the use of shape, the dynamic of the
figure was emphasized.

Rooted
2014
Bronze
9 x 6 x 6
$300

Rooted was the first piece done in bronze. There was no

conceptual purpose for Williams in regards to this sculpture.
He simply enjoyed the visual appeal of the dancers leg on a
pointed foot. The process added to the satisfaction of this
piece. With a pointed foot such as the one in Rooted the body
is in high motion as well as the other leg. That is represented
through the different shapes in the piece.

F*** the Stereotypes

2014
Ceramic
12 x 4 x 4
NFS

F*** the Stereotypes is a piece in response to the social and

racial strife that has befallen our society in recent times.
Williams feels as a man of color and a man that has been
stereotyped and judged based off of the color of his skin, it
was his place to speak out against it through his art. He used
the red glaze to represent the blood of those who have fought
for equal rights and the struggle he has personally faced in his
life. The use of raku firing in ceramics is a very passionate and
intense process. This piece is a symbol of an unbreakable
spirit and has been dedicated to Williams father.

Untitled (gesture series)

2015
Oil on wood panel
24 x 18
$200

(Gesture series) Untitled is a large gestural exercise

during a period of experimental mark-making. Williams
wanted to improve the line quality in his painting and drawing
as to further the visual content of his works. The concept is
not apparent in this piece but it is made possible for the
viewer to pull what they will from this painting. This was the
transition into using chalk pastel and paint for Williams.
