Standard setting © Carefully screw the low speed screw (L) down onto its seat. Then ‘open it one turn counterclockwise (standard setting, L=1) ‘Adjusting idle speed Engine stops while idling: Gheck standard setting (C sorow must be one turn open) Turn the idle speed sorew (LA) clock- wise until cuting biades begin to un and. then turn the screw back one half turn counterclockwise ‘Cutting blades run when engine is: idling Check standard setting, “Turn the ile speed screw (LA) counter- clockwise until cutting blades stop running and then tur the screw another haif tum in the same direction (counter- clockwise). 9 Checking the Spark Plug Spark Arresting Screen in Muffler * be ‘Wrong fuel mix (too much engine olin the gasoline), a dirty air iter anc Unfavorable running conditions (mostly at par throtle etc) affect the condition of the spark plug. A loose connection between Spark plug terminal and ignition wito Connector in the boot may create arcing that cout ignite combustie fumes and cause a fre, if the engine is low on power, check the spark arresting screen in the muller. © Littthe spark arresting soreen and pull tout sideways. © Clean spark arresting sereen. @ If screen is damaged or coked up, fita new one. © Folie spark arresting soreen. * not al versions FH75, Lubricating Gearbox El Lubricating the Drive Shaft ezeancne Use STIHL gear lubricant for hedge trimmers for lubrication ofthe blade drive gear (see "Special Accessories’ alter every 25 hours of operation. Femove the filer plug from the {goarbox cover. Screw the tube of grease into the filer hole FRoll up the end of the tube to the next division on the scale. This forces about 20g (3/402) grease into the gearbox. Felubricate the gearbox about ‘every 25 hours of operation FH75 (Check grease level n angle drive ‘about every 50 hours of operation. Unscrew the filer plug (1). Do not completely fil the gear housing with grease. The tank is now loose. ‘Take out the screw (5). Remove the rope rotor very carefully - the rewind spring is seated in the rope rotor ‘and may pop out and uncoilit cere is not taken. HTS © Use a scrowdriver to ease the ‘cap (6) out of the starter grip. © Remove remaining rope from the rotor and grip, making sure the ElastoStart sleeve is not pushed ‘out ofthe grip. @ Tea simple overtand knot in the end of the new starter rope and then thread the rope through the top of the grip and the rope bush (7) (© Refit the cap in the grip, FATS Pll the rope through the rotor and ‘secur it wth a simple overhand knot. Coat rope rotor bearing bore with on-resinous ol, Siide rotor onto starter post - turn it back and forth until tne rewind spring anchor loop (8) engages Insert sorew and tighten down, securely Go to “Tensioning the rewind Replacing a broken rewind spring © Lubricate the new spring with 1 few drops of non-resinous oil, {do not open the wire retainer. © Remove the rope rotor. Remove parts of old spring. © Fitthe new spring - postion outer spring loop in the recess - the wire retainer slips off inthis process. It the spring has popped out: Rf itn tne counterclockwise irection - stating outside and working inward. © Install the rope rotor Go to "Tensioning the rewind, ‘pring’ 23 TTensioning the rewind spring © Make a loop in the starter rope and Use ito turn the rope rotor six full revolutions counterclockwise Hold the rotor steady - straighten the twisted rope - release the rotor = let go of rope slowly so that it winds onto the rotor. 28 ‘The starter grip must be fimly seated in the rope guide bush.
