    Background
    Since the second half of the
    eighteenth century to the early
    nineteenth century the beginning of
    the industrial revolution , during which
    time major social , economic,
    technological, cultural and
    environmental changes occurred all
    began.

    The first cases of contamination occur


    in the mid- eighteenth century as a
    result of the production and use of
    machine -driven steam coal.

    In all contaminants that exist in the
    atmosphere , there are 5 major pollutants
    affecting health immediately from
    inhalation :
    Carbon monoxide ( CO)
    Sulphur dioxide ( SO2)
    Nitrogen dioxide ( NO2)
    Tropospheric ozone (O3 )
    Particulate matter less than 10 microns
    (PM10 ) diameter.
