LinkedIn proved to be successful for various organizations when it
comes to senior level recruitment due to their electronic targeting
algorithms, displaying the job posting directly to qualified candidates in

I did find the source for their magazine postings and they were
out of budget for this plan.
(Having an online posting on their website could be within
budget so this option is only present for further investigation)

This is not mainly to reach out for qualified candidates within this level
seniority, as it is not the most efficient way, but is more targeted to
increase the organization's image and branding.
Cape Breton is a socially well knit culture, and such an ad in the
newspapers will populate big word of mouth that could potentially lead
to the right candidate and increase the overall company reputation.

Job Description:
Our new Financial Services Manager will
1. Plan, direct and control financial, personnel and administrative functions for
the company.
2. Participate in the provision of effective strategic, financial and human
resource planning and information.
3. Provide controllership functions in order to ensure finances are managed
according to legislation, policies procedures and generally accepted
accounting principles (GAAP)
4. Provide leadership and direction to Finance and Administration staff.
Tasks include but are not limited to:

Annual budgets

Payroll management
Management of Information Systems (Payroll, Finance And HR)

To do so he/she will surely have:


A professional accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA) with several years of related

This mid-level position will have a good number of qualified candidates
that will be referred to or from the YMCA recruitment centre. 2 years
experience with a post secondary diploma in Administrative Assistance
could be a frequent visitor.
b. Educational Institutions (NSCC)
While it might not seem like a good idea since the position requires 2
years experience, word of mouth around this diploma could be a
successful way to attract graduated candidates who have been in the
workplace.
2. General Advertisements
a. Human resources and Social development (Job Bank)
This resource will be ideal for this Mid-level position in order to acquire
further reach and a bigger pool of candidates.

Fred Tilley is facing the risk of staff shortage in the near future and a possible
recruitment crunch.
why?
1. With the average age in management being above 51 there is no guarantee
of consistency when it comes to succession. Possibly not enough time to
recruit, familiarize and establish new employees to be promoted into these
positions who are well acquainted and used to campus policies and
procedures.
2. Qualified candidates are not necessarily staying in Cape Breton island due to
lack of opportunities with fair compensation, finding qualified candidates with
the necessary requirements is an issue especially under short notice.
The Recommended

Start a long-term recruitment plan right away, Establish a ramp up with set
goals on the age perspective.
Talk to senior staff for forecasts on possible retirement plans, in order to plan
ahead on the recruitment and have everything preplanned to avoid surprises.
Understand the average age in Cape Breton is higher than average and the
population is decreasing.
