DIAMOND DETERMINATION
Irene Ouillette

Irene Ouillette | Diamond

Longwood, FL
Realtor/Home Inspector/Builder
Incentives: Nikken Lifestyle Bonus

What she learned from Susan the woman who would become
her Nikken sponsor altered the direction of Irenes life.
Already a staunch advocate of a chemical-free lifestyle, Irene
immediately identified with the Nikken philosophy of natural
wellness solutions. Im all for anything natural that can help
people, she says. To me, wellness is best described as the

A natural athlete and go-getter, Irene Ouillette has

body, mind and spirit on a continual journey of enlightenment,

rarely turned down a challenge. In 1985, she earned

always seeking truth inside and out. The Kenko Dream

the national womens championship title for knee

comforter and Kenko PowerSleep mask rank among Irenes top

boarding (a watersport). She then took up jet skiing

two favorite Nikken products. (She also confesses to a daily habit

and soon excelled in that sport, competing in the world tour by

1991 and ultimately ranking fourth in the U.S.
At the time, I was a letter carrier for the US Postal Service,
but I considered racing and competing to be my career, Irene
says. I would work all week, get on a plane Friday night, race on
Saturday and Sunday, fly home Sunday night and return to work
Monday morning.
The motivated young woman eventually set her sights on

of three to four quarts of PiMag water, and she loves the Air
Wellness system too.)
Moreover, the compensation plan made sense. Always the
proactive achiever, Irene was determined to advance to the
Diamond rank within her first eight months. I was so
disappointed when that didnt happen, she admits. But hearing
from some Nikken leaders who ultimately reached their goals,

small business ownership, and she launched Private I Building

traditional business model of trading time for money to be a

losing proposition. Time freedom became so important to me,
she recalls, especially after I adopted my son AJ in 2007.
A newly single stay-at-home mom by the fall of 2010, Irene
Ouillette needed to find a new source of income quickly. This
time, she was on the hunt for an opportunity that wouldnt take
time away from caring for her young son.
When I met Susan Carver, I asked her what she did for a
living, Irene recalls. Her enigmatic response intrigued me.

In due course, the Nikken business opportunity has proven

equally life changing for Irene. The Nikken network has allowed
me to meet people from all over the country and around the
world, she says. This experience has expanded my awareness
and beliefs of various healthy modalities both spiritually and
physically.
Among Irene Ouillettes most impressive accomplishments
is her advancement from new signup to the Diamond rank,
completed in only two years time just 16 months past her

original goal. Irene says she has grown tremendously through

the experience. Since going Diamond, I am better balanced.
And one of the best things about Nikken is watching others
respond positively to the products. It makes my heart melt.
Asked about the business-building techniques she has
honed over her four years with Nikken, Irene replies, My
approach is to educate people about the products and the
business, while realizing that its not for everyone. Im looking
for those who are ready for this gift, and Ive learned not to take
no personally. Still, she asserts, everyone you meet is a
potential customer or business partner.
Originally from Massachusetts, the longtime Florida
resident has developed a keen ear for perceptive listening. I
listen to discern when the time is right to introduce Nikken to
someone, or when its the wrong time, says Irene. A no could
mean not right now. I steer my approach according to the
individual needs of that particular person, and I can determine
their needs only by listening.
Irene is forthcoming about the challenges she has faced
along the way. Early on, she found herself torn between spending
time with her son AJ and building her Nikken business. But she
is unequivocal about her commitment to Nikken. I knew that
sacrificing some balance in the short term would pay off in the
long term.
And lest her success be written off as merely serendipitous,
for a time Irene also battled the debilitating symptoms of chronic

Irene is quick to credit others for their role in her rapid

ascent to the Diamond rank. I would not be a Diamond today
without my sponsor Susan Carver, she contends, and a
fierce whatever it takes attitude to reach my goal. She
continues by acknowledging the contributions of her Platinum
team members CJ McKenzie, (her mom) Barbara Ouillette, and
Linda Leasure.
And when it comes to Nikken training programs, Irene
endorses all of them. There is always something new to learn,
she says.
If theres a lesson to be gleaned from Irenes story, its that
the Nikken opportunity can open doors that you didnt know
existed as long as you persevere and dont give up! Today, the
single mom is a successful entrepreneur who is earning bonuses
on top of her generous Nikken commission checks. With my
Lifestyle Bonus money, I bought myself a midlife crisis jeep
and a motorcycle. I lifted my jeep and had it fitted with big tires.
Its fun, once I get up into the seat!

Charles & Pam Foster
Missouri City, TX
Charles and Pam Foster came from successful careers in
photography and choral direction, respectively, before they
set their sights on Nikken. In the beginning, they shared
Nikken as a product model. It worked, but we found
that this method was too slow in getting us to our goal,
concedes Charles. Looking for a way to accelerate their
business development, the Fosters found experienced
mentors in the veteran Royal Diamond couple Mac McDonald and Pat Terry.
Since then, Mac and Pat have helped us to build a fastpaced, duplicable and solid organization, says Pam. Its
fun as well as rewarding!
The Fosters have developed an approach theyve dubbed
their daily method of operation, which begins with identifying a prospect as a potential business builder. The couple arranges a sit down where they present an overview
of the Nikken compensation plan and then sign up the
prospect with Nikken Vital Packs to jump start their retail
sales, Autoship and a myNikken Premier subscription. The
next step is getting the new signup enrolled in the next Silver online and Humans Being More trainings. Then, they
provide supplemental training resources to help the new
signup assemble a plan to grow their Nikken business.
The 21 Club is a big part of that plan, notes Charles. We
dont overwhelm new Consultants with all the details; we
just get them started on the incentive and help them drill
down their prospect lists.
By all accounts, this strategy is paying off. Charles and
Pam recently advanced to the Gold rank, and have also
earned the prestigious Paragon Award for developing
three new Silver Consultants within three months along
the way. It is such an honor, says Pam, and its validation that the Nikken business works!

SUCCESS TIPS
Look for a mentor who understands your aspirations, dreams
and goals and is willing to teach you.
Listen and be coachable. Then, teach what you learn and lead
by example.
Big events are key to keeping team members connected and
seeing the big picture.

PARAGON
AWARD
Charles & Pam Foster | Gold
Missouri City, TX

harles Foster was a successful commercial

photographer for 38 years, a one-time
president of the Texas Professional
Photographers Association with a masters
degree in photography. His wife Pam was an awardwinning high school choir director with more than 25
years of experience, including conducting a sold-out
choral performance at Carnegie Hall.
We were both at the top of our fields doing what
we loved, but we were looking for a plan B, recalls
Charles.
In 2011, a good friend introduced the couple to Nikken.
It was the right time and the right opportunity for the
Fosters, who jumped at the chance to establish
financial security in a declining economy that was
already beginning to threaten the careers of some of
their colleagues. They havent looked back since.
Though the beginning was slow going, their Nikken
business began taking off after Charles and Pam chose
Royal Diamond leaders Mac McDonald and Pat Terry as
their mentors. The Fosters have been building
momentum with their daily method of operation,
described in their Gold rank advancement profile.
The 21 Club incentive is a key part of this strategy, and
the proof is in the pudding. This activity has propelled
us to the rank of Gold, while boosting our volume to
Platinum levels on a monthly basis, enthuses Pam. It
has also earned them the highly sought-after Paragon
Award. After breaking five new Silver Consultants in the
space of four months, the Texas residents are about to
break five more in the next month!
The Paragon Award includes a generous monetary
bonus, Charles notes, and its allowed us to
demonstrate to our team members that if we can do
it, they can do it too. The husband and wife team
intends to continue 90-day cycles of the 21 Club

model and riding the momentum it builds, which has

been vital to their success in Nikken. One of the greatest
advantages in this business is that you can earn while
you learn, emphasizes Charles. This is a benefit not
found in most other careers.
The Fosters have utilized a number of creative
approaches to the 21 Club, from phone calls and coffee
shop meetings to Skype and FaceTime video conferencing,
group meetings and new Consultant parties. They also
applied the innovative 10-10-10 strategy, setting aside a
Saturday to invite 10 prospects for a 10 am presentation,
10 more for 2 pm and another 10 for 7 pm. This method
has proven extraordinarily efficient, as they are able to
spend the remainder of the month engaging and closing
those prospects.
Charles and Pam feel its their responsibility to lead by
example, and if they keep up their momentum, Platinum
is just around the corner. The prestige of the Paragon
Award has paved the way to faster growth and more
excitement from our business partners, exclaims Pam.
Even our customers are hearing about this honor, and
taking another look at Nikken!
Nikken provides so many ways to gain financial
independence, adds Charles. For us, Nikken is not a
hobby. Weve replaced both our full-time incomes and
have now set our sights on Royal Diamond.

Focus on fitness
Beware the air when exercising
Polluted air has been shown to decrease lung
function and aggravate breathing difficulties while
working out, reports the Human Performance Resource
Center, a United States government organization dedicated
to promoting fitness. Poor air quality in the home may
contribute to this problem as much as outdoor pollution,
says HPRC, citing the presence of nitrogen dioxide,
carbon monoxide and other gases that often
accumulate inside structures, especially those
with no better than adequate ventilation.
(hprc-online.org, June 20, 2014.)

Water = liquid energy

When exercising, energy level and
hydration are closely linked, explains Rachel
Meltzer Warren, M.S., R.D., a New York-based
nutritionist. Even mild dehydration as little as
1% below the optimal level can cause fatigue, loss
of focus, headache and depressed mood, according to
one recent study in the Journal of Nutrition, Warren
says. Constant drinking of liquids, especially healthy
fluids such as water or tea can assist in helping a
person stay hydrated and in turn keep energy
levels up.

Protein keeps
metabolism up to speed

(MSN.com, August 19, 2014.)

Insufficient amounts of essential nutrients

and especially protein can turn metabolism
sluggish, says registered dietitian Joan Salge Blake,
clinical associate professor at Boston Universitys
Sargent College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences
and a spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and
Dietetics. After a few days of fasting or minimal protein
intake the human body begins to conserve fat instead
of burning it. When you dont get enough protein,
your body breaks down lean muscle mass, which
is what slows your metabolism, says Blake.
(Redbook, August 19, 2014.)

Heart health by
the numbers
Its never too early to begin paying attention to
cardiovascular fitness. So says the American Heart
Association, which recently updated their guidelines
for heart health. The group recommends that all adults
age 20 or older have their cholesterol and other risk
factors checked every four to six years. This examination
should include measures of HDL and LDL cholesterol
levels the so-called good and bad cholesterol as
well as blood pressure and other cardio factors.

Omega-3 fatty acids may be useful in alleviating

according to a presentation delivered at the

NEW!

hen most people hear the words energy drink they think of a
beverage that may produce the promised effect but isnt
exactly healthy.

Its true. The typical energy drink product is a nutritional nightmare: loaded
with sugar and stimulants, along with all kinds of additives, chemicals and
who knows what.
Nikken products are never typical or unhealthy. So we decided to create
our own energy drink mix that gives you the good without the bad. Its known
as Kenzen Ten4.

A drink that's different

To make Ten4 Nikken devised a formulation with a balanced blend of natural
ingredients. Theres no heavy dose of sugar that provides a temporary rush,
none of the taurine, ginseng or carnitine that are in some other energy
drinks.
You also wont find artificial flavors, artificial colors, artificial sweeteners,
artificial caffeine, or artificial preservatives.
The natural ingredients in Kenzen Ten4 include organic matcha green tea
and New Zealand kiwi.
Matcha is the premium variety of green tea, grown only in a small region
in Japan and produced using methods that have not changed in 850 years.
Matcha green tea not only provides a moderate amount of natural caffeine, it
has other compounds that help the body convert stored fat into energy, boost
metabolism and support mental alertness. Green tea is quite high in natural
antioxidants, to fight against harmful free radicals.

TECHNOLOGY

New Zealand kiwi is a superfruit bursting with vitamins, minerals

and fiber, polyphenols, carotenoids and beta-carotene. Its naturally
alkaline, unlike most fruits, which tend to be acidic. Ten4 contains
an extract made from all-natural, whole-fruit kiwi, with its active
enzymes.
Vitamins B6 and B12 in Ten4 can help prevent fatigue. Kenzen Ten4
supplies you with B vitamins that keep you feeling like yourself.
Ten4 is formulated with only 5 grams of organic cane sugar, plus
a hint of natural stevia and blueberry powder. This gives it a sweet
and zesty taste without a lot of calories it only has 25 per serving.
And of course theres no fructose or artificial sweeteners of any
kind.

Changing the way we think

about the energy drink
Even if energy drinks arent your beverage of choice, you cant deny
that this category of products represents a vast market. The most
recent data indicate that Americans spend more than eight billion
dollars a year on just the top seven brands.
In light of these facts and figures, Nikken imagined a practical
alternative a drink without all the bad stuff, that can be prepared
fresh every time, is moderately priced, tastes good, and can be
enjoyed by all.
In other words, an energy drink that people can feel good about.
Kenzen Ten4 is the result. Try it and see for yourself why Ten4 is
called Real energy. Pure delight.

When our shipment of Ten4

arrived, I tried my first glass and
noticed it has a very mild, fruity,
pleasant taste! As one who avoids
coffee and soda, I was concerned
about the effects of the caffeine,
but I could barely taste it. Within
five minutes a nice energy lift
began to kick in.
About five hours later, I was still
energetic and quite alert, but feeling
very calm. I am so impressed with
this! I slept very well that night and
woke up still full of energy yet
relaxed at the same time totally
unexpected. I hope everyone is having
the same wonderful response!
As you know, I tend to be vocal
about when I dont like a product,
but Im very excited about Ten4.
The cost of the competing energy
drink is $2.50 a serving, while
Kenzen Ten4 works out to just
$1.75 per packet at wholesale,
making our product more
economical too. Ten4 offers huge
potential for opening up a new
customer demographic!

Kenko Rosebud earrings

In jewelry there are classic designs items widely

admired because their form and execution are flawless.
Nikken Kenko Rosebud earrings meet that standard.
And as theyre from Nikken, you know that Rosebud
earrings are considerably more than merely classic in
appearance and craftsmanship. The Rosebud concept
combines style and advanced magnetic technology.
Rosebud is also a combination of delicacy and strength.
The look is elegant but these ear pieces are produced
in high-quality stainless 316L steel, which will retain
its glossy finish even in daily wear. Non-corrosive and
resistant to discoloration and wear, Rosebud earrings
are nickel-free and feature hypoallergenic backs
and posts.
The uniquely Nikken aspect of Rosebud is represented
by its technology: each earring contains two magnets.
They are compact, but strong 500 gauss. And in a
technological triumph, Nikken succeeded in placing one
magnet on each side of the ear, a balanced arrangement
for maximum coverage.
A pair of earrings this magnificent should be configured
for frequent use, and in that respect Rosebud also
delivers. The style goes effortlessly from daytime to
formal evenings. Theyre easy to wear because the
rounded shape has no sharp edges to snag clothing.
At only four grams one tenth of an ounce Rosebud
earrings are supremely comfortable.
In all, Kenko Rosebud earrings feature Nikken magnetic
technology in an enduring expression of style. They will
lend a feel of refinement and a sense of precision to
your world.

Technology behind KenkoLight awarded Nobel prize

When it was introduced, the Nikken KenkoLight offered

revolutionary technology a form of indoor sunshine that
helps the human body maintain its healthy, natural sleep/
wake cycle. It was a groundbreaking innovation then, and still is.
The Nobel committee in Stockholm, Sweden, happens to
agree. In October they awarded the Nobel Prize in physics to
three scientists whose work with light-emitting diodes
resulted in the white-light LED array that makes
KenkoLight II possible.
The Nobel honor goes to Isamu Akasaki of Meijo University
and Nagoya University, Hiroshi Amano of Nagoya University,
and Shuji Nakamura, now at the University of California,
Santa Barbara. They labored for several years in research
that has changed forever the way that we illuminate
our world.
Light-emitting diode or LED lighting existed before the
scientists prize-winning invention red and green diodes
have been used for more than 50 years. The elusive goal that
was finally achieved by this trio of technical wizards was the
development of a blue LED, which can be combined with red
and green to produce white light.
As described in an official statement from the Royal Swedish
Academy of Sciences, The invention of the blue LED is just
20 years old, but it has already contributed to creating white
light in an entirely new manner to the benefit of us all.

This is where one can say that white LED lighting, well,
shines.
The Nikken KenkoLight II offers full-spectrum illumination
with augmented blue light that helps us to sustain normal
circadian rhythm, the sleep-and-wake cycle that keeps us
more alert during the day and allows us to sleep better at
night. Scientific studies show that the type of lighting
provided by KenkoLight II can improve sleep efficiency and
even increase cognitive and learning ability. Conventional
artificial lighting simply cannot do that.
Because this is LED technology, KenkoLight II is also
remarkably efficient in its energy use. And unlike sunlight,
KenkoLight II does not emit ultraviolet radiation so it may
be used without the concerns that accompany prolonged
exposure to the suns rays.
As the Nobel Prize committee has
recognized, reproducing the effects of
sunlight through technology is an
amazing example of progress. But it
was Nikken who transformed
this advanced white-light LED
system into a practical,
well-designed device that
provides the benefits of
sunshine every day
KenkoLight II.

White light is not only what were used to, its what best
allows us to see. Daylight is its natural form, and at the dawn
of history humans found ways to make artificial white light.
For thousands of years it was produced only by open flame:
fires, torches, candles, then whale oil, kerosene and gaslight.
In the 1850s electric arc lamps began to appear on some city
streets, and Thomas Edison perfected his incandescent bulb
in 1879. Fluorescents came next.
Yet incandescents and fluorescents project only some of
the light wavelengths that sunshine provides. Research in
biology has shown that we need broad-spectrum lighting
particularly in the blue part of the waveband, where those
light sources are notably deficient to support physiological
functions that keep us healthy.

Sleeping with the Enemy

Do you know whats in your mattress?
A recent article published on an independent,
third-party health and fitness website reminded
readers of a very real concern regarding conventional
mattress materials. Titled Is Your Mattress Slowly
Killing You?, the piece highlighted the health hazard
that exists wherever flame-retardant chemicals are
found in consumer products.
Considering that most of us sleep on a mattress for
several hours every night, few other items are as likely
to physically transfer these chemicals to the user.
Its an instance where the positive aspects must be
weighed against the potential harm.
Every mattress sold in the United States since July 1,
2007 has been treated to make it highly resistant to
catching fire so much that even brief exposure to a
blowtorch flame will not cause it to ignite.
That degree of fire resistance can only be achieved by
saturating the mattress material with a chemical
regarded as highly toxic: polybrominated diphenyl
ether, also called PBDE.
Although its effectiveness as a flame-retardant is not
disputed, PBDE has been shown to accumulate in
the body after it has been absorbed through skin or
inhaled. This compound is linked to brain and
reproductive damage and other issues. Pregnant
women may transfer stored PBDE to their fetuses.
Canada and much of Europe have banned PBDE use,
but its not the only flame retardant that is suspected
of causing adverse effects. Some mattresses contain
amounts of boric acid (a respiratory irritant), antimony
or formaldehyde.

28

www.nikken.com

This has come to the attention of medical authorities

including Doris Rapp, M.D., an environmental medical
specialist and pediatric allergist. Dr. Rapp says of
these treated mattress products: [Manufacturers
infuse] maybe a cup and a half or two cups of this
material on the mattress. They sprinkle it over the
top or they put it into some kind of a coating on the
mattress. And this can make people very, very ill.
What can be done to help safeguard sleepers against
this danger? There are some alternatives. One is to
avoid mattresses altogether and sleep on the floor,
but not many would be willing to sacrifice comfort to
that extent. (Thats not very conducive to restful sleep,
either.)
Another is to seek an organic, naturally flameresistant mattress. The problem there is twofold: the
few examples of these that are offered are exorbitantly
priced, and not all of them are as organic and
chemical-free as they may claim.
The Nikken Kenko Sleep System is a better solution.
The Kenko Naturest Mattress Topper can be placed
on an ordinary bed and prevent direct contact
between the mattress and the sleeper. Naturest is
made of pure, natural latex, and the natural-fiber
cover is organic. Its naturally flame retardant, so it
meets the flammability-resistance standard without
additives.
Sleep is essential for your good health. It makes
sense for your sleep environment to support the same
objective.

Thanks to a well-executed relocation plan, Nikken corporate

staff moved into a new international headquarters in May 2014
and quickly had all systems and services fully functional.
While the previous facility had a nearly iconic status to many in
the Nikken family, the new location at 2 Corporate Park reflects
a Nikken that chooses to devote less of its resources to physical
infrastructure and more toward support of Independent Nikken

In making this move we were able to decrease our carbon

Its essential in any business to evaluate operating conditions

weve been successful in increasing productivity to the extent
that were able to serve our Consultants and our market better

the company of such a delightful group of
women), and practical business tips.
I have attended many events over my
16+ years with Nikken, all of them
beneficial and inspiring. For me, the
difference with the womens retreat was
the depth of sharing and learning to be
had. It was more personal and relaxed
than other events, yet very focused. And
we had so many laughs together!
In August, a unique, hands-on experience was created to
empower female entrepreneurs who aspire to build a
successful Nikken business. Organized by Independent
Nikken Consultants for Independent Nikken Consultants,
the Women of Nikken Empowerment Retreat combined
three days of interactive workshops, healthy meals, swimming
and outdoor recreation against the beautiful backdrop of
the Rocky Mountains in Loveland, Colorado.
Royal Diamond leaders Susan Carver and Julie Tara hosted,
along with the collaboration of Nikken North America Sales
Director Colleen Edwards. Participants had the opportunity
to explore their hidden strengths to uncover their untapped
leadership potential. They learned strategies for developing
a result-focused organization. And they practiced collaborative
communication to inspire others in the active pursuit of
their goals.
Daily morning yoga sessions offered attendees a welcome
wakeup call, while evenings included gathering around a
campfire and toasting marshmallows. This tangible
expression of a Life in Balance truly resonated with event
goers, who left enriched, inspired and equipped to create
success in their Nikken business.

All three of the presenters, Julie, Susan,

and Colleen shared with a transparency
from their hearts. It was so moving and so
much fun you will want to be there for
the next one!
The best part of it was that all seven
women returned transformed, excited,
and focused in a way I have not seen
before. And many weeks later, they are
just as excited and focused on the big
goals they set for themselves and
their businesses!

importance of natural and healthy living, and the

necessity of respecting and helping those in need, says
Rachel. These ideals in many ways established the
basis for who I am today.

From the age of eight, Rachel Danzig knew what she

wanted to be when she grew up. Inspired by the kind
and intelligent pediatrician who treated her, Rachel only
grew more certain of this goal as time went on.
Her ambitions were supported by parents who instilled
an appreciation for the value of education, the

In school, Rachel pursued the most challenging

courses. She ran cross-country and trained with a
dance company through high school. And she was
raised in a Nikken wellness home. Furthermore, Rachel
looked for ways to be a productive member of society in
her spare time. I found a volunteer position in a local
food bank and an after-school tutoring program in my
first year of high school, she recalls. These opportunities
gave me an incredible sense of satisfaction, as I was
able to help my peers while interacting with new and
different people.

Rachel entered the pre-med program at Brandeis

University, and in the summer after her junior year she
was offered an opportunity to go abroad for eight weeks.
It was through this experience that Rachel realized how
committed she must be to pursue her dreams.
As an English tutor in India, Rachel worked with
students who would daily endure scorching heat to
practice their English. They taught her to appreciate her
privileged upbringing and education.
Rachel also volunteered in the local hospitals outside
of Delhi, where she realized the importance of proper
nutrition and sanitation on medical care outcomes. For
the first time I began to understand how largely health
education and social initiatives play into healthcare and
disease prevention she recalls.

Addie Reinhard (ne Roberts)

University of Tennessee,
College of Veterinary Medicine
Knoxville, Tennessee
Scholarship recipient for
two consecutive years

active member of student government from high school

through her undergrad years at East Tennessee State
University. As president of the universitys rock-climbing
club, she organized educational clinics, outings and
competitions. Addies leadership continues with her
present role as secretary in the Avian, Wildlife and Exotics
club at her veterinary school. In January we organized a
national symposium for exotic animal health, gathering
speakers and attendants from all over the country, she
says. Addie is also the student representative for Oxbow
Animal Health, a company that promotes the wellness of
pets through high quality nutrition.
Addies active involvement in causes related to animal
health and welfare has taught her that eating well
promotes a healthier and better quality of life not only
pets, but for people as well.
As she enters her final year of veterinary school, Addies
goal is to become an exotic and small animal veterinarian.
I believe that loving your work and having a passion in
your chosen career are important
aspects of leading a healthy,
balanced life, she says.

Dear Mr. Watanabe,

Addie Reinhard grew up playing the piano, enjoying Nikken

products and helping to care for the llamas and goats on
her family farm in Tennessee. Her parents emphasized the
value of education and community involvement, and this
upbringing had a significant influence on Addies formative
years.
Throughout high school, I spent time volunteering at our
local animal shelter, the Salvation Army, and food and
book drives for underprivileged populations, says Addie.
As an undergrad, she continued her volunteer work at the
Western North Carolina Nature Center and its there
that she discovered a passion for veterinary work.
Currently Addie coordinates the Meals on Wheels program
for pets at the University of Tennessee, where she is a
student in the college of veterinary medicine. I also
volunteer at a local nursing home where my greyhound
Nash and I visit weekly, she adds. And thats not all; Addie
finds time to assist at the small-animal intensive care unit
in her veterinary school too.

We would like to extend our

sincerest gratitude for awarding
our daughter, Addie Rose, with
the Watanabe scholarship for the
second consecutive year. There are typically no other
scholarships or financial aid offered to students in
professional school. This has been a huge boost to Addie,
and it means way more to us than all of the other awards
and incentives combined that Nikken has provided us
in our 20 years with the company. What could be better
than providing the means for an education to an aspiring
young adult? There is nothing that we can think of, and it
means the world to us!
Addie will be graduating from vet school in May and will
not be reapplying for the scholarship, but it is our hope
that this program will continue for many years to come
so that others may have the opportunity to receive this
tremendous gift. It demonstrates what a first-class
company Nikken truly is and it shows what a big heart
you have. It also exemplifies the philosophies of Humans
Being More and the 5 Pillars of Health that originally
drew us to Nikken.
Again, thank you so much! Our belief in Nikken could not
be stronger. You and Nikken are truly very special to us.
Sincerely,
Steve & Toni Roberts
