Culminating Activity: Creating a New Medicine for a

Disorder
You are to formulate a new drug option, in groups of 3, for a disorder of the circulatory,
respiratory, or digestive systems and present the information using Microsoft PowerPoint.
Use your creativity skills to come up with a unique name for your drug and present your
information in an engaging way as you are attempting to sell your drug to pharmaceutical
companies (include text, pictures, transitions, etc.). Presentations should be 7-10 minutes
in length, including 2 minutes for questions.
Your PowerPoint presentation should include:
1. Title of disorder
2. Definition of disorder
3. 2 Interesting facts about the disorder
4. Symptoms of the disorder
5. Causes of the disorder
6. Current treatment options for the disorder
7. Your new drug for the disorder [include the name, which symptoms it will
alleviate, the method of treatment, and possible side effects]
Disorders will be selected on a first come first serve basis and must be approved by the
teacher so do some research AND THEN choose your topic ASAP. (A list of possible
disorders for all three systems is provided on the back of this sheet)
