PLANNING Time, WORK Time, RECALL Time

This three-part sequence is unique to the HighScope Curriculum.
Occurring daily, it includes a 10- to 15-minute period during which
children plan what they want to do during work time (the area to visit,
materials to use, and friends to play with); a -minute work time for
children to carry out their plans (or shift to new activities that interest
them); and another 10- to 15-minute period for reviewing and
recalling with an adult and other children what they've done and
learned.
1.

If You Take a T-Rex To School Class Book {Literacy}-

We read the book If You take a Mouse to School and then created
our own version, If You Take a T-Rex to School. Children illustrated
their own page of the book and added their dictation (with the
teachers help). We then laminated our book, bound it together with
rings and added it to our book area.
2.

Volcano {Science}-

First we created a volcano using a 20 oz plastic bottle and play doh.

Then we place toy dinosaurs around the base of the volcano. Using a
funnel, we added baking soda and red food coloring to the bottle.
Lastly, we poured vinegar into our volcano bottle and watched as it
erupted!
3.

Dino Foot Measuring {Math}

A T-Rexs foot was 3 Feet Long! We made a life sized t-rex foot out
of paper and then put our shoes inside to see how many of our shoes
it would take to make one t-rex foot.
