Activity: Review/Game

Time Relay- Review Game


Setting: Resource Room Number of students: 4-6

Statement of
Objective:

Students will be able to work as a team to demonstrate their successful


understandings of telling time. This includes; effective use of time vocabulary,
expressing understanding of clock parts, reading an analog clock.

Materials:

Whiteboard and markers


Numbers 1-12 on post it notes (one stack for each group)
Hour and minute hands (unlabeled) for each group
List of times desired to practice and assess understanding
Brainstorm- record ideas on the board
What do you know about time?
Why is time important?
You have become such clockmasters! Today we are going to play a
game to test your clock reading skills!
Present the game
We are going to be doing a relay race to review and show off our time
skills
I will split you into two teams- the red and blue clock team!
You will have a number of tasks to complete
Review good sportsmanship and teamwork
You must be a respectful group member or you will have to sit out of
the task. Your team needs your brain power to help the team
accomplish all of your missions. It would be tough for your group
without you!
So remember to be kind, respectful, and responsible throughout our

Task 1- Come up with a team name for your clock
Task 2- Put the numbers on your clock correctly
Task 3- Correctly label your clock hands and attach them to your clock
Task 4- Correctly make your clock say times to the nearest 5 minute.

Conduct Time post-assessment


Remind students that they will be completing an exit slip for them to
show me all that they have learned

Closing:

Congratulate students on their learning and success with time!

Additional tasks- Task 3- Solve the problems and make your clock say
the correct time

Jamie goes to the part at 10:00. She stayed at the part for 1 hour. What
time did she leave?
Linda went to soccer practice at 7:00. The practice lasted 1 hour and
30 minutes. What time did it end?
Kara left to go to the movies at 7:30. The movie lasted for 2 hours and
30 minutes. What time did it end?
