Leadership:

I did not realize the value of thinking and planning life regarding my OT career more
than one year ahead. When creating the professional development plan, I realized how many
goals I should set for myself and the OT career path. It allowed me to plan more specifically
regarding goals etc.
I have been in many leadership positions when working in the Army Reserves for the past
10 years. I have quickly learned what it is like being responsible for many soldiers and their
needs come first. It takes a lot of sacrifice to perform a demanding job, especially when
deployed for a year.
Utilizing the strength finder assessment was very beneficial when identifying my
strengths as a leader. I found out that my strengths consist of being an arranger, developer,
relator, responsible, and active listener. Other characteristics include empathy, foresight,
awareness and perception, persuasion, conceptualization, and self-healing. I am goal oriented,
initiate action, good communicator, dependable, trusted, creative, intuitive, and situational. I
also identify with being a servant leader. I chose servant leadership because I enjoy serving
others first and enriching the lives of individuals. I strive to make sure other peoples needs are
being served first; focus on their growth and well-being. It is not about being servile, but
wanting to help others and meeting the needs of colleagues and communities.
