Important Events:
In my genogram, the events of Civil Rights Movement and other
education problems led to my grandparents education achievements to be
stopped at high school attainment. Therefore at this time, many African
American didnt think about going to college, and often didnt even finish
high school, because it wasnt necessary for future employment. This led to
many of them joining the local work of a steel mill or veterans care, where
such skills didnt come from what you learned out of a text book. By the time
my parents attended school, college was an option for many AfricanAmerican, and my father used sports as his getaway to college because of
his family financial opportunity. Once my mother became pregnant with my
older brother, they both dropped out of school to take care of their son, so
neither obtained their bachelors degree. Even though they didnt have a
college degree, they were both able to find average salary jobs, Carillion and
Verizon, so that they were able to take care of their responsibilities. As my
mother had more kids she had to find a job that was able to give her
flexibility in being there for each of her 4 kids. Therefore she decided to work
as a church secretary, where her hours were flexible and she didnt have to
work every day. My older brother, EJ, followed my father footprints and got

good financially and make sure my career is something that I would enjoy.
