EXPERIMENT 4: SEQUANTIAL CONTROL CIRCUIT JJ512 : PNEUMATIC & HYDRAULIC
EXPERIMENT: SEQUANTIAL CONTROL CIRCUIT
Objectives: 1. To construct the pneumatic/electro-pneumatic circuit diagram for sequential control circuit. 2. To design the pneumatic/ electro-pneumatic circuit diagram following their task. 3. To draw the schematic diagram with correct symbols for electrical/ pneumatic components
Apparatus: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. Procedures:
1. Draw the circuit diagram for the following task.
Task:
Using a transfer station blocks are to be transferred from a magazine to a
processing station. The blocks are pushed out of the magazine by cylinder 1A and transferred to the processing station by cylinder 2A. The piston rod of cylinder 2A may only return when the piston rod of cylinder 1A has reached the retracted end position. The magazine is monitored by means of a limit switch. If there are no more blocks in the magazine, it is not possible to start the cycle. This is indicated by means of an audible signal. The control is to be operated in single cycle.

2. Connect the air compressor to the air service unit.
3. Connect the air service unit to the input of the manifold. 4. Connect all components based on the circuit diagram. 5. Ensure the connection of pneumatic/ electro- pneumatic system is complete, turn on the compressor air and switch on at manual switch. 6. Ensure the operation of pneumatic/ electro- pneumatic system is following the task has been given.

Analysis/ Discussion: 1. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of electro-pneumatic and pneumatic applied for sequential control circuit. Advantages
Disadvantages
Pneumatic
Electro-pneumatic
2. Design the sequential control circuit to applied for situation below:
The prototype of a pneumatic domestic rubbish compactor (under table model) is operated with a maximum working pressure of p = 3bar = 300 kPa. It is equipped with a precompactor (1A) including glass crusher as well as a main compactor (2A), which exerts a maximum force of F = 2200 N. When a start button is pressed, first the pre-compactor advances, then the main compactor. The subsequent return stroke of both double-acting cylinders takes place simultaneously. In the event that the main compactor does not reach the forward end position rubbish bins full , the return stroke of both cylinders is initiated by a pressure sequence valve. It is set to switch at p = 2.8 bar = 280 kPa.
