Branch, Marc N. "Drug Addiction. Is It a Disease or Is It Based on Choice? a Review of

Marc Branch is a professor at the University of Florida. He has over 100
publications that are used in psychology courses today. This source include stats
of drug addiction and how people become addicted. It distinguishes the
difference between drug abuse and drug use. The article includes all of the
questions that I was trying to find.
After reading it, I also came up with some other questions to be answered.
The statistics that were included made researching and finding out more
information easier. The information can also be used to support some of my other
findings.
This is a credible source because the publication is made by a well known
psychiatrist in the field that he studies. The publication has also been made into a
textbook that both undergraduate and graduate students use.

Degenhardt, Louisa, and Wayne Hall. "Addiction 1: Extent of Illicit Drug Use and
Dependence, and Their Contribution to the Global Burden of Disease." The

Both of the authors are know internationally for the studies regarding drug
addiction. Wayne Hall himself is in charge of the National Institute of Drug and
Alcohol Research. Louisa Degenhardt has written 3 other books and is also a part
of many research related societies. The article breaks down he demographics
related to drug addiction and the burdens that it creates.
This article answered more questions that I had. It brought my research
together and helped me form a conclusion. What I found interesting was how
they were able to include different countries in the article. It help broaden my
knowledge and findings.
This is a credible source because it has been published by many institutions
and was written by two authors with extensive knowledge about the subject.
They were published in numerous countries and are able to support everything.

Kashmir Monitor is a newspaper based in India. The article was written by a
lecturer at an university in India. The article goes in depth about the addiction
that people suffer and how they are dependent on them. It explains why and how
people are addiction and dependent on drugs.
After reading the article, I feel more confident about going further into the
investigation. The information provided will support my argument and provide

important facts. The article is relevant to all of the questions that I wanted
answered.
This is a credible source because it was written by lecturers and doctors at a
medical school in India. The authors have extensive knowledge regarding the
subject and also researched it.

The publisher of this article is the National Institute on Drug Abuse. They do
many studies per year regarding drugs and their effects. The article that was
publisher included many details about the effects of drugs and more specifically
why some people become addicted.It goes into the cost of drug addiction and the
long term mental effects also.
The article provides good background information. It gives me a
understanding of where to go from there. I would like for the article to provided
more detailed information like certain stories. I would like interviews from
pervious drug addicts.
This is a reputable source because it is provided by the government who has
access to updated statistics. The website also list when the articles were last
updated and also how the information was found.
Van Der Poel, Agnes, Cas Barendregt, and Dike Van De Mheen. "Drug Users' Participation
in Addiction Care: Different Groups Do Different Things." Journal of

All three authors are all senior researches at the Addiction Research Institute
in the Netherlands. They also all have Ph.Ds in the field that they study. The
article addresses how certain drug users tackle their treatment. The purpose of
the article is to discuss their findings after their research.
After reading the article it gives me a better understanding of the treatment
process. The statistics that they use helps breakdown how things work and what
the patients go through.
The source is credible because the three authors are all professionals in the
field that they are studying. It is also a case study that has been published and
reviewed by their peers.
