TWS 4 Assessment Plan

Overview: My unit is in the subject of math. The title of this unit is Shapes
Extraordinaire. The unit consisted of pre, during, and post assessments. It also
included other activities that caused students to use their creative brains and be
active in the classroom. All assessments were used to demonstrate what student
knew, what they were learning, and what they had learned from the objectives of
the lessons within the unit. The objective of this unit was: for the students to
recognize a variety of shapes in different settings. Students will be able to create
using those shapes. Students will also know the number of vertices, edges, or sides.
The pre and post assessments are designed to align with this standard and to make
sure students were learning and understanding the many standards. The during
assessment was also designed to see if students were moving toward the learning
objective of the lesson.
Pre-Assessment: The pre-assessment is created to see what the students know
prior to this lesson. The pre-assessment, helps with the directing the unit in the
right direction. It will also determine how to set up lesson that will be most
beneficial for the students. For the pre-assessment, the students will be show five 2dimensial shapes (triangle, square, hexagon, pentagon, and rectangle). As the
shapes are shown students will identify the shapes and their names. The student
have studied shapes before, so there will be a pre-test to see what parts of the unit
needs to be reviewed or expanded.
The pre-assessment will be scored based on the number of hands raised when
asked to identify the shapes, the correct answer to the questions, and with a
worksheet that will be graded.
During- Assessment: The during-assessment are designed to see what the
students are learning as I teach the lesson. The students will be given the
opportunity to create a house or anything out of shapes. The students will then
write short summary of the shapes that were uses. They are also required to tell the
number of sides and the number of vertices each shapes uses and how many they
may have in all.
The during-assessment will be scored in two separate parts. The first portion of the
graded will be based on how many shapes are used, if the shapes are drawn
correctly. The second portion of the grade will be based on their writing. The student
will used the words around the classroom to help with spelling, and the correct
number of sides will have to be written down as well. A checklist will be used to
control the grading.
Post-Assessment: The post-assessment will be at the end of all lesson. To really
see of the students have mastered all of the standards and some the same test will
be given at the end as the one at the beginning. The post test will have 4 new
questions based on the elaboration of the lessons in the unit. The student will be
read the test and will be required to answer the questions. The student will have
3enough time to complete the test and show all that they have learned.

The test will be graded on how many answers the students answer correctly out of
all of the questions.
