Afteraweeklongsearch,hisbodywasdiscoveredatthefootofarockycliffatGibutongoinGamogo
subcounty.
Thecharredbody,burntbeyondrecognitioninawildfire,wasdiscoveredbychildrenwhohadgoneto
playinthebush.
ThebodywasburiedatGimugunyishomeinZemugulavillageafterapieceofashirtsimilartothe
onehewaswearingwasfoundonthebody.Butthedeathcameatacost.
AmobdescendedontheKabeywaLC3chairperson,WilsonWalenda,onMarch30andbeathimto
neardeathaftersuspectinghimofhavingahandinGimugunyisdeath.Severalhousesweretorched
andcropsburntbythewildmob.
MurdersuspectsWalenda,togetherwithLuinaKayiga,anaunttoGimugunyi,CharlesNandagalaand
anothermanonlyidentifiedasOdoto,wereherdedbyfuriousresidentstoKapchorwaPoliceStation.

ruledthatthedisputedacreoflandbelongedtoGimugunyi.

chargedwithmurder.

AbodabodacyclistwhofirstsawGimugunyi,rodeaheadofhimalongthehighwayandcameback

Gimugunyi,apeasant,doesnotownaphone.Hedivorcedhiswifein2008.Hehasbeenstayingwith
threeofhischildrenatZemugula,whiletwoareinKenyawithhisfather.
Itsbadwhensomebodyisaccusedandinjuredwrongly.Imsorryforwhateverhappened.Imready
toreconcilewithallthosewhosufferedbecauseofmyblunder,hesaidatKapchorwaPoliceStation.

WhosebodywasburiedatGimugunyishome?
BecausethebodywasfoundinJanuary,webelieveitmighthavebeenofahawkerwhowaskilled
andthrownoverthecliff.Hawkersusuallythrongthisplaceduringthedryseason.
"Therewasanotherbodythatwasdiscoveredatthesamecliffin2012.Wehavewidelycometo
believethatmurderersusethisclifftodumpbodiesoftheirvictims,LeonardMagomu,aresidentof
Taritovillage,said.
