To differentiate instruction, the students will turn to their neighbor and talk to them for 23 minutes about what they just learned and decide if they have any questions.

To learn about the daily schedule.


To learn about what the student are and are not allowed to wear to school (dress code).
To learn about the lunch schedule.

To learn the terms that are specific to the middle school.
To learn about the schools PBIS program.

TIME REQUIRED

30 minutes

MATERIALS NEEDED

Pre test, computer with projector, pencils

Pre test, go through the power point, discuss any questions, conclusion
ACTIVITY SUMMARY

PROCEDURE

1. Introduce the lesson briefly, mention what we are going to be talking about
during this lesson (daily MS schedule, dress code, lunch, lockers, PBIS, Flash
Focus, MS terms, clubs and sports to join) 2 minutes
2. Give the pre-test explain to the student that the test is not for a grade but that
it helps me determine how much they learned or picked up from the lessons.
5 minutes
3. Powerpoint Presentation 15 minutes
4. Have the students turn to their neighbor and have them discuss for 2-3
minutes about what was just presented. If there are any questions, address
them at this time. 3 minutes
5. Conclude the lesson with whats on the agenda for the next lesson
Academics which includes information on courses, related arts rotation, teams,
grading scales, and planners 5 minutes

1. Pre and post test data will show me the impact on the students
2. At the beginning of each new lesson, I plan to ask the students what they
thought of the previous lesson. As well as ask the teachers if there was
anything that the students may still have questions about or if they had
overheard any discussions in the classroom about the lesson.

The next lesson will be about academics. I also plan to start the next lesson by asking
if anyone had any questions from the previous lesson.

the other for parents)

ACTIVITY SUMMARY

Introduction to lesson, powerpoint presentation, short discussion, post test, conclusion

PROCEDURE

1. Introduce the lesson and discuss the objectives of the lesson. 2-3 minutes
2. Start the powerpoint presentation, pause if necessary for questions. 15
minutes
3. Have the students pair up with a different neighbor from the last lesson and
have them share one thing they learned and one thing that they might have a
question about. 3 minutes
4. Post-test 5 minutes
5. Pass the handout out to the students and encourage them to share it with their
parents.
6. Conclude the lesson and ask if there are any questions.
