Introduce

UMTS merupakan suatu revolusi dari GSM yang

mendukung kemampuan generasi ketiga (3G).
Terdapat dua mode yang digunakan dalam
WCDMA dimana yang pertama menggunakan
FDD (Frequency Division Duplex) dan kedua
dengan menggunakan TDD (Time Division
Duplex). FDD dikembangkan di Eropa dan
Amerika sedangkan TDD dikembangkan di
Asia(indonesia)
Pada WCDMA FDD, digunakan sepasang frekuensi
pembawa 5 MHz pada uplink dan downlink,
namun untuk TDD hanya berlaku satu frekuency
carier sebesar 5 MHz

Architecture

UMTS Architecture

UE (User Equipment)
Merupakan komponen utama dari UMTS network
yang bertugas berinteraksi dengan user/customer
yang dapat melakukan panggilan dan akses data

Node B
Perangkat yang bertugas sebagai penghubung
antara UE dengan RNC

RNC=Radio Network Controller

Sebuah element dari Radio Network Subsystem
yang bertugas mengontrol node B yang
terhubung. Dan juga mengenkripsi data yang
diterima dari node B untuk dapat dikirimkan ke
MSC

Cont

MSC
Elemen dari UMTS network yang bertugas
mengatur proses switching telephony.

GMSC (Gateway Mobile Switching Centre)

Gate way dari circuit switch proses yang
berhubungan langsung dengan network lainnya

SGSN (service GPRS support node)

Sebuah element yang bertanggung jawab
terhadap akses GPRS pada jaringan UMTS

GGSN (Gateway GPRS Support Node)

Gateway dari SGSN yang bertanggung jawab
untuk menghubungkan dengan network lainnya

Interface pada UMTS

Interface pada UMTS

Ada empat interface yang digunakan dalam

UMTS yaitu :
Uu : untuk menghubungkan UE dan Node B
Iub : untuk menghubungkan Node B ke RNC
Iur : untuk kontrol dan manajemen data exchange
antar RNC
Iu : untuk menghubungkan RNC ke GSM phasa 2+
(MSC, VLR,SGSN).

Frequency

UMTS beroperasi pada band frequency 2100 MHz

Satu operator mempunyai 5 MHz sebagai
frekuensi carier. Karena indonesia menganut
system TDD maka frekuensi uplink downlink nya
berada dalam satu kanal frekuency

Handover
Berikut macam-macam Handover pada UMTS Network
Softer Handover
Proses perpindahan serving cell dalam kondisi MS dedicated
dari sector yang satu ke sector yang lain di node B yang
sama
Soft Handover
Proses perpindahan serving cell dalam kondisi MS dedicated
dari node B yang satu ke node B yang lain dalam satu RNC
Hard handover
Proses handover yang terjadi antar RNC
Interfrequency handover
Handover yang terjadi ketika MS berpindah dari frequency
yang satu ke yang lain
Inter System Handover(ISHO)
Handover yang terjadi ketika MS berpindah MS(misal dari
WCDMA ke GSM)

Call attempt retry

Block call adalah panggilan yang berakhir secara tidak

normal ketika melakukan call setup. Block call terjadi akibat
kanal yang penuh.

Call setup

Call attempt retry adalah panggilan yang diulang untuk

meminta kanal pada node B.

Block call

Call attempt adalah panggilan yang bert ujuan untuk

meminta kanal node B

Call setup adalah panggilan (signaling) yang telah

dibangun antara pihak pemanggil dengan pihak penerima
panggilan (callsetup berbentuk nada panggil).

Call processing

Call establish

Call establish adalah pembicaraan yang telah terbangun

antara pihak penelpon dengan pihak penerima panggilan.

Drop call

Drop call adalah panggilan yang berakhir secara

tidak normal setelah melakukan proses call establish. Drop
call dapat didefinisikan sebagai pemutusan hubungan pada
saat pembicaraan antara pihak pemanggil dan penerima
sedang berlangsung.

Call end

Call end adalah pembicaraan yang telah berakhir

secara normal antara pihak pemanggil dengan pihak
penerima panggilan.

Istilah-istilah

AS = Active site = cell yang diduduki oleh MS pada saat

dedicated mode
SC = Serving Cell = cell yang diduduki oleh MS pada saat
idle mode
MN = monitoring Neighbour = cell tetangga yang
memungkinkan untuk
handover ketika levelnya lebih
baik dari serving cell
DN = Detect Neighbour = Cell tetangga yang hanya
mendeteksi saja dan tidak dimungkinkan untuk handover
UARFCN = UTRA Radio Access Frequency Channel Number
Cell reselection = perpindahan cell yang diduduki oleh MS
saat kondisi idle

Geoset manager : berfungsi untuk membuat file geoset (file

1. Check connection of the equipment (if there is one of
them disconnect, we must stop and re drive test)
2. Navigate driver where we must go
if SSV and optimasi method,drive test must be in the
main lobe of antenna sector
If cluster and benchmark method, drive test must
route the road that have give by RF engineer
3. Check events, may be there is dropped call and blocked
call (if there is dropped call we must start record again
in the recent call end)
