Free Tutoring

The Academic Success Center


offers FREE tutoring for students
enrolled in courses at Seminole
State College. Tutoring is provided
on a walk-in basis.

Math
Math tutors include an Instructional
Support Specialist with a bachelors
degree and peer tutors who are students
at Seminole State College and UCF. All
math tutors are familiar with course
material.

Writing
An Instructional Support Specialist
is on staff to assist students with
papers for any course as well as
writing and grammar concepts.
*The writing specialist cannot proofread
student papers.

Courses range from developmental


math through statistics and calculus.
Hours may differ depending upon the
course. Please check the website or
contact the ASC for specific hours.
* Math tutors cannot assist with take-home
exams.

Students may

Science
Science tutors include an Instructional
Support Specialist and peer tutors.
Courses include biology, chemistry,
and physics.

A variety of anatomy
and physiology
models as well as
other materials are
available for
hands-on study.

Accounting
Accounting tutors include peer tutors
who have successfully completed
accounting coursework at Seminole
State College or UCF.

Periodically,
tutoring for
other courses
may be
available.

Open Comput er Lab

The Center has 37 computer


stations where students can
complete academic work
and access course content.
Computer assistants are on
duty to help students access
network programs and
provide technical support.

Policies

Students must be currently


enrolled in a course at
Seminole State College.

Students must sign in when


entering the ASC.

Students are seen on a walkin basis.

Students must use computers


for academic purposes only.
Students must adhere to
usage policies posted in the
computer lab.

Students must bring


headphones or earbuds to
listen to sound for
assignments.

Mission
The Academic Success Center provides academic
support to all currently enrolled Seminole State
College students. The ASC supplements classroom
instruction by providing real versus virtual tutoring
in the sciences, mathematics, writing, accounting
and Spanish. The ASC also provides students access
to online handouts and practice tests, science
models and computers to write papers or complete
online coursework in several disciplines.
