Community Engagement Program

SUPPORT US
The impact of our work is magnified by the dynamic
partnerships we nurture with residents, business leaders,
donors, city and state government and other non-profit
stakeholders. North Shore CDC serves as the catalyst for
convening a wide range of partnerships, allowing for a more
sustainable and effective impact in the communities we serve.
Together, we can address the issues that our neighbors face by
creating affordable housing and promoting community
development throughout the region.

North Shore Development Coalition has a history of 40 years in

giving to the society with community investments on the North
Shore. We are the only regional community development serving
in the North Shore and our goal is to bring neighborhood
development model to this region in order to create safe, and
family-friendly communities.

Community Development
Changing neighborhoods starts with
Police calls
providing a voice for the people in the
have decreased areas we serve. We focus on projects that
up to 90% in have lasting benefits for entire
neighborhoods, where our presence
the
stimulates collaborations, events, and
neighborhoods community organizing. Our community

agencies, and local governments to

in neighborhoods.

We encourage
everyone to
participate in
opportunities to make
big changes in their
communities!

We want to make the

residents of Salem and
Beverly more active
so we can all help
improve our
communities.

We want everyone to
advocate for resources
for the low-income
neighborhoods that
we serve

Together, our neighborhood

revitalization model has
transformed long-neglected
communities into safe, vibrant
neighborhoods.

people, learning the

relationships with my
community. My doubts
have been erased by my
friends at the CDC Local Resident
We didnt just build
good buildings. We
changed a
neighborhood.

I am just grateful that in a tough
economy like ours there are
organizations that seek to ease
the burden of those who struggle
to get by. I have lived at Holcroft
Park Homes for a couple of years
now, and I honestly love it here.

Everyones Salem

By helping and educating

residents, organizations, and institutions in Salem through
community events and media campaigns, Everyones Salem
aims to unify Salems complementary perspectives and
experiences. These events bring everyone in Salem together.
Salem is diverse, but the communities within it often interact in
silos. Everyones Salem was born out of a desire among
community groups to move the conversations on public issues
away from who is to blame and towards how do we make
Salem better for everyone? Everyones Salem believes that by
focusing on what we have across all communities leads to an
even greater city for everyone.

Gloucester Crossing
was once one of the most undesirable
neighborhoods in Beverly due to drugs,
crime, and a lack of opportunity. Ever
since the neighborhood's chief
employer, United
Shoe, left in the 1980s the
neighborhood struggled with a decline
into poverty. Since North Shore CDC
and their partners involvement,
Gloucester Crossing has seen
improvements in housing stock, safety,
lighting, trash reduction, and access to
local resources. Despite these
improvements, there is still work to be
done.
