Calcium and phosphorus have a reciprocal relationship in the body; high


levels of calcium lead to low levels of phosphorus. Hypoparathyroidism is a
rare clinical syndrome and is associated with a deficiency or absence of
PTH or a decreased peripheral action of PTH.
