*Recognise the letters of the alphabet and know there are lower and upper
case letters(ACELA1440)
*Read predictable texts, practising phrasing and fluency, and monitor meaning
using concepts about print and emerging contextual, semantic, grammatical
and phonic knowledge(ACELY1649)

Standard(s)/ Learning Outcome(s):


*LOW Students will increase their comprehension of the text context (spiders and webs) and focus on
identifying the initial words of spider and web.
*MIDDLE/HIGH - Student will develop their one to one recognition of vocabulary to improve
compression and reading
Indicators: (2 or 3)

*Students will answer closed and open questions about the images in the text
*Students will follow the text with their finger as we read together
*LOW - Students will use whiteboards to draw the word web and draw a spider in its web.
*MIDDLE/HIGH Students will focus on the prepositions over and under, drawing a picture of an
animal going under and over a rock/sand.
Assessment: (2 or 3 that match indicators)
*Observations-students during reading (following text, answering questions)
*Anecdotal Notes (sticky notes) -students ability to write the sentence about wheels and draw a wheel
picture

Include all students in small group discussion and participating actively

*Model with students Under and over (with rock and animal objects]

*Look at the words spider and web on whiteboards look at first letters and sounds.
