I would like to put forth my interest in an Mechanical Engineering entry level/internship position at
NASA. Currently, there are no openings available through the Pathway Opportunities page on
nasajobs.gov. However, if more information about one related to my field of study becomes available, I
would like to know more about it. The experience I have gained in my education, extracurricular
activities, and work would be a valuable contribution to your company.
I am a college student at Salt Lake Community College maintaining a 3.97 GPA. I am working on my
Associate of Pre-Engineering (APE) degree that will transfer to the University of Utah where I will finish
my Mechanical Engineering degree. I will be transferring Fall 2016.
During my education, I have applied to extracurricular activities such as the Jordan Applied Technology
Center (JATC) Engineering program. In this 2 year course, I had great experience with Computer Aided
Drafting (CAD) and reproduced these models using a 3D printer or laser cutter. I also have a great
interest in robotics, this is shown in my hobby of radio controlled (RC) vehicles. A couple of the
documents in this portfolio represent this interest.
Over the Summer of 2012 I worked with a company called Knowbe Works as a Parts Modeler using
SolidWorks. With my help, along with other employees, we were able to recreate entire factories inside
a SolidWorks assembly. I worked with skilled engineers and furthered my knowledge of CAD Drafting.
I currently work at a company called Allreds Inc, an HVAC distributor, as a Marketing Assistant. I have
acquired many skills outside of my college education, the most proficient being graphic design. Every
document in this portfolio, except this page and the table of contents, was made in Adobe Photoshop.
If you have any questions, or if you have information on upcoming positions, you may reach me by the
phone number or E-mail listed at the top of the page. Thank you for taking the time to review this
portfolio, I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,

Tyler Scott

of several RC vehicles and provide the capabilities of each vehicle. It also shows my ability to
organize a document using my experiences in graphic design.
Nitro vs Electric Why Electric Power is Better for RC Vehicles
This is a persuasive document that shows my ability to argue for a certain option based on
several facts and details. It also shows the depth of my understanding of RC cars and further
expands on my interest in robotics. Just as before, more graphic design representation.

This is a two page flyer that I make for a company called Allreds Inc. to promote certain
products/events for a Month (this one is halloween themed for October 2014). This document

advertisements, and take on large projects and complete them.
