Experimental Pathology Sections and Institutional Biorepository and Morphology Core.
Recruited and retained high-caliber clinically and academically oriented faculty and built strategic alliances
with other departments aligning faculty roles/functions with organization mission, vision and goals.
Transformed quality culture and became recognized as a national leader, developing an integrated quality
management system and creating operational efficiencies in the laboratories.
Drove revenue growth and external funding investing in expansion (25,000 sq ft)/renovation (32,000 sq ft) of

Received extramural funding to build 7,000 sq ft new biobank and translational research core facility for the

Led strategic and operational reorganization of the entire Surgical Pathology services, with focus on quality,
turnaround time and service accountability.
Planned and oversaw reconstruction of facilities including gross room with creation of totally new sign out
suites, resident and fellow rooms and support staff offices.
Synergized Surgical Pathology services between all Emory hospitals.
As Associate Director of Cancer Pathogenomics at Winship Cancer Institute, helped develop the institutional
Biobank, translational pathology facilities, and along with other leadership, in the preparation of the NCI
Comprehensive Cancer Center grant.
As Director of the fellowship program, coordinated service and academic missions between the multiple
Anatomic and subspecialty fellowships.

Young Investigator Award of the Arthur Purdy Stout Society of Surgical Pathologists in 2001.
College of American Pathologists Foundation Lansky Award (2010). Award recognizes a practicing pathologist
who exemplifies distinguished commitment to excellence, leadership, and the advancement of pathology
education and science.
College of American Pathologists Distinguished Service Award (2010). Awarded for services as Chair of the
Cancer Committee of the CAP award recognizes conspicuous performance in which results enhanced the
prestige of the CAP on a national scale and which aided in furthering its national polices.
As Medical Director, led the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at Cedars-Sinai selection to be
recognized for Quality, Efficiency and Innovation as "Lab of the Year 2014" by Medical Laboratory Observer
(MLO), a national networking magazine whose primary audience is laboratory directors, medical technologist
leaders and hospital administrators.
