#1
What
is
well-known
about
you.

One
(He

What
does
it
mean
to
embrace
a
Hawaiian
identity?
For
me,
it
means
making
connections
to
the
culture
and
the
values.
You
dont
have
to
be
a
total
hayn
and
wear
a
malo
everyday
to
school
in
order
to
achieve
this.
I
for
one
am
not
that
hardcore
about
my
culture,
but
I
do
find
ways
to
incorporate
its
aspects
into
my
life.
For
example,
I
really
like
the
language.
As
a
student
in
Hawaiian
3,
I
feel
that
its
important
to
continuously
speak
it,
and
my
family
agrees.
My
grandparents
and
I
occasionally
converse
in
Hawaiian,
and
at
our
yearly
family
reunion,
mostly
Hawaiian
is
spoken.
In
addition,
I
really
enjoy
the
food.
I
mean,
who
doesnt?
Theres
just
so
much
pride
that
goes
along
with
preparing
your
own
laulau,
poke,
and
paiai,
and
its
a
tradition
I
hope
to
pass
down
to
my
own
kids.
On
the
surface,
thats
about
as
Hawaiian
as
I
get.
However,
the
values
of
our
culture
are
instilled
within
me.
Imi
naauao,
pono,
and
mlama
are
just
a
few
that
I
carry
with
me
everyday
and
try
to
reflect
upon
my
actions.

2:

Two
(Past)
-
Many
things
have
shaped
me
into
the
person
I
am
today.
All
the
mistakes
that
I
have
made
serve
as
lessons
for
me
to
use
in
the
present
and
future.
When
I
was
younger,
I
suffered
from
a
really
bad
hip
injury
and
the
doctors
said
I
would
be
confined
to
a
wheelchair
for
the
rest
of
my
life.
As
you
can
see
right
now,
I
proved
them
wrong.
That
experience
has
taught
me
that
everything
happens
for
a
reason
and
nothing
can
stop
you
once
you
put
your
mind
to
it.
Futhermore,
I
think
the
recent
death
of
my
Aunty
Rags
really
changed
my
outlook
on
life.
It
made
me
realize
how
important
family
is.
It
also
taught
me
that
life
is

Elizabeth Blaisdell
so
precious
you
dont
know
when
youll
leave
it.
Make
the
most
of
what
you
have,
and
treat
every
day
like
its
your
last.

3:
Side
Three
(Present)
Right
now,
Im
still
concert-hopping
with
my
friends
while
barely
finishing
my
homework
on
time.
Im
no
longer
dancing,
but
I
can
say
that
it
was
a
huge
part
of
my
life
at
one
point.
d. Subpoint
4:
Side
Four
(Future)
-
We
see
the
word
goals
everywhere
now.
Relationship
goals
or
car
goals
or
even
outfit
goals.
Although
those
are
all
great,
I
also
hope
to
achieve
something
more
substantial
and
long
lasting.
I
honestly
dont
know
what
I
want
to
be
when
I
grow
up.
One
day
I
might
want
to
be
a
chemistry
major,
and
other
days
I
say
screw
it
and
want
to
become
a
tattoo
artist.
Right
now,
Im
kind
of
leaning
towards
ethnic
studies.
However,
no
matter
what
I
end
up
doing,
I
just
want
to
be
successful.
I
want
to
be
able
to
say
that
my
hard
work
got
me
to
where
I
will
be.
One
of
my
dreams
is
to
travel
the
world
and
experience
all
the
different
cultures.
I
just
think
its
so
cool
how
people
around
the
world
can
be
so
different,
and
yet
still
the
same.
I
dont
have
a
set
plan
to
achieve
this
because
I
feel
that
it
will
happen
when
it
happens.
I
dont
know
what
the
future
holds,
but
that
uncertainty
is
what
makes
life
exciting.
B. Main
point
(s)
#2
What
other
people
might
not
know
about
you.
a. Subpoint
1:
Im
on
the
math
team.
Yes,
Im
a
nerd.
b. Subpoint
2:
I
used
to
be
a
contemporary
dancer.
c. Subpoint
3:
I
really
like
to
cook
and
I
make
a
mean
lamb
chop
with
balsamic
reduction.
Cooking
gourmet
dishes
is
kind
of
like
an
outlet
for
me,
and
my
family
certainly
doesnt
mind
because
they
get
to
eat
it
afterwards!
I
also
like
to
make
pasta
by
hand.
Conclusion
A. Concluding
Statement-
Dramatic
Statement-
What
do
you
imagine
your
future
to
be
like?
How
will
you
achieve
your
goals?
What
drives
your
passions?
Your
past
shapes
your
present
and
your
future.
No
matter
what
you
do,
dont
forget
your
roots
as
a
Hawaiian
and
as
an
individual.
Always
remember
who
you
are.
