INSTRUCTIONAL PHASE:
Input/Modeling: The teacher will have a power point that includes labeled
diagrams of a cell, pictures, and information about the functions of each part
of the cell. Also the student will have read a chapter out of a text book the
day before, so they had some background about the structure and function of
cells before they came in.
Checking for Understanding/Scaffolding: As the teacher goes through
the power point, he or she will have the students take notes and label the
diagram. The teacher will point out the parts of the cells that need to be
labeled and will pause to make sure the students get that part labeled. Once
they have identified and labeled a part of the cell, then the teacher will talk
about the function of that part of the cell.
Guided Practice: Make sure that the teacher walks around every so often,
to make sure that students are doing their work, and to see if they are having
any problems that you can help them with. Give time for students to ask any
questions that they might have. Also allow them to play the game I have
made on the computer that quizzes them on the function of different parts of
the cell.

Differentiated Instruction: Take the time to see if the students have any
questions, after explaining each function of the different parts of the cell.
When explaining the functions of the different parts of the cells, use
analogies to help explain the functions of these parts of the cells.
