Sex Change
Gender is not only women and sexual , orientation has multiple choices(Gloria D. Gonsalves).
When ones gender identity does not match his or her biological sex, a state of such
unease results that the condition is currently known as gender dysphoria (Winfield 74). When a
persons sexual anatomy is at odds with his or her gender identity, the brain is likely to win out
(Winfield 87). A female or male should be happy with whatever they choose to do with their
body. In other words, sometimes a boy may feel that he is trapped inside the wrong body and
that he is really a girl, or vice versa (Winfield 13). Intersex children born with the expected
anatomy, may not realize their inter sexuality until later in life often around puberty (Winfield
13). Transgenders should be allowed the same rights as all other individuals.

(Winfield 87). Male to female transsexuals must deal with the male tendency to produce
excessive hair (Winfield 114). After working with a gender therapist for a number of months
(three to six to start), a transsexual may be deemed ready to undertake hormone treatments . The
introduction of male or female hormones to the body causes distinct changes.

Transgenders should be allowed the same rights as all other individuals. A female or
male should be happy with whatever they choose to do with their body. Its usually hard for some
people to get a sex change, but for some its not that hard. People change along with a
continuum, hopefully to whatever degree the degree the person is comfortable, but this may be
limited to the change a person can financially afford (Winfield 113). In turn, individuals who do
not appear to be properly gendered have their own humanity put into question (GONZALEZSALZBERG). On the other hand, while the Convention conceives the human rights subject as
a binary sexed person, it does not offer a definition of sex or the characteristics needed for a
person to be considered a man or a woman (GONZALEZ-SALZBERG).
Every human being has within themselves an idea of who they are and what they are
capable of achieving (Winfield). It is fundamental, then, that each individual has the right to
assume gender roles congruent with ones self-perceived identity and capabilities, regardless of
physical sex, genetic sex, or sex role (Winfield 165). No person shall be denied their Human
and/or Civil Rights on the basis that their gender role or perceived gender role is not congruent
with their genetic sex, physical sex, or sex role (Winfield 165). While any outcome of
transitioning is acceptable if it helps a person to feel more whole or real, the public nature of the
process itself can put a trans person at risk (Winfield 107).
They should not be excluded in any way. Women still experience the most pressure from
society to maintain a specific look. But even men are starting to become very self-conscious
about their appearance. (Hanan). Importance of gender-neutral bathrooms in libraries because
they offer one place for transgender or gender fluid homeless youth and adults to safely use a
bathroom, without being stared at or verbally or sometimes even physically abused

(Winkelstein). Transsexual is usually applied to those who, whilst belonging physically to one
sex, feel convinced that they belong to the other; they often seek to achieve a more integrated,
unambiguous identity by undergoing medical treatment and surgical operations to adapt their
physical characteristics to their psychological nature (GONZALEZ-SALZBERG). These
transsexual individuals were recognized by domestic law as men in certain legal aspects, and as
women in others (GONZALEZ-SALZBERG). These naturalized bodies did not pose any more
threats to the coherence of the law and its rigid gender system (GONZALEZ-SALZBERG).
Despite the risks, many people experience a driving need to reshape their life around their
true self. For the transgender person, there is no one right or wrong way to make such a change
(Winfield 106). One must change to extent that he or she feels comfortable until feeling at home
in his or her body. Some transgenders will be satisfied by simply dressing and acting in the
manner of their chosen sex and have no desire or need to change their physical bodies through
the use of hormones or surgery (Winfield). Every human being has within themselves an idea of
who they are and what they are capable of achieving. That identity and capability shall not be
limited by a persons physical or genetic sex, nor by what any society may deem a masculine
or feminine behavior (Winfield 165).
Like many of us they should be able to express their happiness just like everybody else.
In the event that an individual is married when he or she legally changes his or her sex to that of
his or her spouse, the marriage that would emerge would be a same-sex marriage. (Taniguchi). A
world that allows us to recognize how alike we are, without the premise that our gender defines
and separates us (Winkelstein).

Williams 4

A world that isn't about gender, but instead is about individuals and how our lives are
intertwined. A world that allows us to recognize how alike we are, without the premise that our
gender defines and separates us (Winkelstein). Given that each individual has the right to assume
gender roles, it then follows that each individual has the right to freely express gender roles in
any manner that does not infringe on the freedom of another individual (Winfield 165-166).
First, an individual with children cannot change the fact that they have children by will
or choice. The only way this fact could change is if the child or children unfortunately pass
away or if the parent kills their own child, neither of which is desirable (Taniguchi 114).
Here is a little about someones sex change. It all started when i was was a young child at
the age of 8. I knew something was different in my heart and soul. But did not have any body to
talk to about it. So to jump ahead many years later, when i was a teenager at the age of 18 i
started to check into the internet about how i felt inside of me about feeling like a female all my
life. I found out a lot of what i did not know that i was not alone in the world of how and why i
felt like a female all my life. I started doing a lot of research on the subject of sex change, and
there it was on the internet. WOW what a wonderful feeling. I now knew that i could get help in
how i felt.I then started on hormones when i was 19 years old, and still am on hormone
replacement pills. For those of you who do not know what i am talking about it is estrogen(the
female hormone) that helps to produce more estrogen in the male body to compensate for the
testosterone in our bodies. The estrogen helps to produce female features, and helps to feminize
the body.It takes alot of strong commitment to start and continue the process of the hormonal
replacement in the body. You have to really want to go through with it. So think it through if you
are thinking about going through with it. It is irreversible once you have the surgery done to

become a female physically and sexually. Once you do it there is no turning back once your
decision has been made to follow through with all the hormone replacement and the surgery. So
as i should continue about myself it has been a long process of going through it all, but has been
totally worth it all. The cost of it all and to have to continue the hormone regimen the rest of my
life to keep my feminization. It has taken a lot of my patience and a lot of money to do what i am
doing. It is what my life has meant to be to me (Stephanie Marie).
Despite the risks, many people experience a driving need to reshape their life around their
true self. He or she should feel comfortable in their body, and also they should be able to dress
the way they want to. The world should allow transgender to recognize how alike we all are
without being talked about.
