Health Classroom Management Plan

The Bauscher Bs
B-Be on Time to class and find your seat immediately when arriving
B- Be Respectful of classmates and teacher.
B-Be Prepared for class. You are responsible for bringing materials to class
B- Be a good Listener and follow instructions the first time they are given.
B- Be your Best you can be, so everyone may enjoy class together.
Procedures:
Students will come to class on time and find their seats when the bell rings in a speedy
fashion so attendance can be accounted for.
Each Student will have their health journals and pen/pencil out on their desk when bell
rings.
Students will be respectful to other classmates, classroom materials and the teacher.
Students will bring all necessary materials with to class.
Students will use appropriate language and terms during class.
Students will raise hand when having a question and only one student may talk at a time.
Lesson Objectives will be discussed at the beginning of each class.
If you are absent from class you are responsible for talking to me about the work that was
missed.
Encourage students to ask questions and to ask for clarification keeping in mind that this
may not be culturally appropriate for all students.
Come to class prepared to listen, learn and be engaged.
Promote collaboration between all students.
Most importantly be HEATHLY and have FUN!!!
Creating a Safe Learning Environment:
I shall be basing my safe learning environment off of Skinner Behavior Modification theory.
This theory is based on students behaviors and how they act during different activities or
gameplay. I want to create a classroom where my students always feel that they are doing a good
job but also have opportunities to be challenged. With this in mind I will be giving my students
ample amounts of positive feedback about their behaviors to encourage a healthy atmosphere.
Some examples would be Excellent Job!, Everyones doing great, keep up the hard work!
Very nice attention to detail, I can see someone was listening closely today! With this positive
feedback or reinforcement I plan to create a fun yet challenging learning environment. I will also
1

be sure to make accommodations for students with diverse learning styles. My main focus is to
be conscious of all students physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs. The best way to
stay on top of these needs is stay organized and follow procedures. For students in the adapted
setting I will be aware needs and provide the accommodations listed in your students
individualized education programs.
Expectations:
During this year there will be a variety of group activities as well as test, projects and quizzes. I
expect all students to on collaborating the best ideas together. They should have a positive
attitude that is ready to learn. During some of these projects and group activities they will be
asked to work with a variety of partners, they will be expected to demonstrate their best
cooperation skills even if they have not worked with these partners before. The main goal of this
class is to become more aware of the opportunities to live a healthier more prosperous life and
we cannot do that if we are not willing to all work together. Everyone should be respectful of one
anothers decisions and understand that some people may have different views.
Rules and Consequences:
Students are to remain in their seats until the bell rings unless instructed
otherwise.
Students will be in their assigned seats and prepared with proper materials when
the tardy bell rings.
Students will keep gum, candy, food and drinks out of the classroom
Cell phones are not allowed to be used during class unless I give you permission
to use them. Keep them out of sight. If they are seen being used they will be
confiscated until after class.
Hats and hoods will not be worn during class.
There will be no tolerance for cheating, if student is caught cheating they will
receive a zero for that activity or test and will be asked to see me after class.
Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. If a student is misbehaving they will
receive a verbal warning and if the behavior reoccurs they may be asked to stay
after class to set up a conference time.
Establishing Classroom Rules:
The classroom rules and procedures were created to emphasize a positive learning
atmosphere. This year we really want to focus of the Five Bs being on time, being
respectful, being prepared, being a good listener and being the best you can be. The
students will be put into five groups and each be given a different B from the five Bs.
They will then work together to create a poster of what each word means to them using
the underlined words. These posters will be hung up around the classroom to remind the
2

students of the key procedures should be during every class. To ensure success for
students with disabilities in general education classrooms, teachers must plan
collaboratively, create structured classrooms with clear rules and expectations, and teach
content in a meaningful and memorable ways.
Reward Method:

Positive comments/Verbal praise

Positive calls to the students home
Extra credit opportunities
Extra health game opportunities

As a health teacher, I would like to use a practical reward method to support ideas and concepts
related to the class material. I do not want to depend on extrinsic rewards because if they are
over-emphasized the students will be motivated to achieve the reward and not achieve the
learning.
Consequences and Punishment:
Consistency is the key with both rewards for good behaviors and with consequences for
unacceptable behaviors.
Following through with consequences. Warnings will lose their authority if the
consequences are never enforced.
3 Strikes & Your Out Policy:
1st Strike- The first violation of any rule will result in a verbal warning. Example:
Jimmy- You are disrupting the class and impeding us from learning about nutrition,
if you do not stop, you may lose the opportunity to join us on the field trip related to
this lesson.
2nd Strike- The second violation of any rule will constitute a conference with me to
discuss their behavior and how it affects the outcomes of the individual and the class.
Conflict resolution strategies may be discussed and/ or alternatives to the students
behavior. Behavioral contracts may be used if necessary at this time.
3rd Strike- The third violation of any rule will result in a notification to the principle
and to the parents. This may involve a parent-teacher conference if necessary.
Motivation:
Student motivation can be created by bringing new fun ideas to the classroom. Students always
enjoy new games or group activities that they can relate to real world experiences. I plan to
incorporate a variety of different learning styles which will involve games, brain busters and
group activities to really encourage those core concepts of health to stick. I want my students to
3

know that I love learning about health, how the body works and what things we can change to
live healthier lifestyles.
Safety:
Safety is my number one priority I want all my students to feel comfortable within their learning
environment. It is very important to me that all the students understand the proper emergency
protocols that will be displayed within my classroom on the walls. During the first day I will
explain both the necessary actions for what to do in the case of a fire and a tornado, as well as the
protocol for any other emergencies such as someone entering the building without proper access.
We will also discuss the necessary actions in case of a medical emergency so I can ensure the
quickest possible student safety.

Addressing Parental Involvement

Both the student and parent will be asked to sign the Classroom Management
Agreement that is attached to this document. This is to make sure that the parents have a
better understanding of the necessary disciplinary actions. Also during each month I will
send an optional email including a health newsletter describing the specific ideas or
concepts we went over in class. This is to help parents follow along with what your
student is learning in the classroom. My contact information will also be available if there
are any other questions.

---------------------------------------------------CUT HERE-------------------------------------------------I have read and understand the Classroom Management Agreement and understand the
expectations in class.
