Research question: Should teenagers have the responsibility of driving?

Working Thesis Statement: Many people are debating whether the legal driving age for
teenagers should be raised or continue to stay the same age.`
Refined Thesis Statement: With no hesitation adolescents should be given the responsibility of
driving, it is just as likely for adults to be distracted, involved in collisions, or to have any such
issues as it is for teens.

In this article it defends the right for teens to drive by explaining why adults can be just
as accident prone as them. Also, it explains that most accidents occur from distractions,
including the use of cell phones used by themselves or someone else in the car. In the article it
shows statistics and facts that will be useful to prove whether or not teens should drive or not.
Anything that takes a persons hearing, visual, or mind off of driving can cause issues, this is

possible for teens and adults. This article mainly talks about the fatalities and collisions that
occur between certain ages. I will be using this in my article to defend the side of the argument
that is trying to prove why teens should be able to drive.

In this article it displays many different opinions of whether teens should be driving or
not. Also in this article, it shows the percentages of people that believe teenagers should be
driving and if they should not be driving. Many people agree with teenagers driving and explain
the many reasons as to why teenagers are eligible drivers. Reasons such as, being able to help
their family, having ways of transportation without depending on other people, and teens are
responsible enough. However, there is also the people who believe teenagers are not ready for
this big step in life. Many people conclude that teenagers are not mature enough to handle such
a responsibility as driving. I am using this article in my paper to show the many different
opinions of both viewpoints.

In this article it talks about teen driving and the inexperience that most teens have with
driving in multiple scenarios. Also, in the article there is a variety of reasons that teens should
not be driving with proper reasoning to back up their point. The article also explains alternative
ways for teenagers to learn proper driving experience. Reasons such as technology, peer

pressure, and inexperience in different weather situations can be deciding reasons whether
teenagers should be driving at such a young reason or not. This article defends that viewpoint
that teenagers should not be allowed to drive by themselves at this age and it should be raised for
safety precautions. I am going to use this article for my research paper to have reasonings as to
why teenagers should not be driving yet.
