Description of Activity:
Fizzy Ice:
The children will witness what happens when vinegar and
baking soda are mixed together.

Procedure:
1. Mix vinegar and food coloring to make colored
vinegar and put them in little cups.
2. Full up a large container/bucket with crushed ice
and make piles of ice. Add some baking soda down
into the mound and some more ice on top of it.
3. Use the medicine dropper to grab some colored
vinegar and squeeze the colored vinegar onto your
mounds.
4. Watch the reactions and chat with the kids about
what they see. Pick a new color to drop and add
that to the ice again. Have the children take turns
adding more baking soda to the ice and let the
children take turns dropping more vinegar onto the
mounds.

4 small cups
