Bill of Rights
Energy & Recycling
By Autumn Jones

Where Are We Now?

We currently use non-renewable sources
for energy. Nuclear power provides
about 11% of the world's electricity, and
21% of electricity in OECD countries.
Nuclear power is the most
environmentally benign way of
producing electricity on a large scale.
On a national level, there is no law that
mandates recycling. So, some state and
local governments have introduced
recycling requirements for their region.

Energy
It is required that Americans reduce the use
of or make more efficient the use of
electricity, natural gas, propane, oil, and
transportation fuels in order to conserve
energy. The use of this type of energy shall be
eliminated or used to a minimum by the year
2018.

Recycling Programs
Each city will provide specific dumpsters for recycling
purposes only. The public will therefore have to adhere
to the rules set concerning recycling and the use of
recycling bins or dumpsters.
Recently, Beijing
has made progress
with their recycling
program, making the
first reverse vending
machines that pay
subway credits in
exchange for returned
containers.
