Description of Stunting in Children under 5 years and Corresponding Factors in
Working Region of Puskesmas Kelurahan Jelambar Baru, Kecamatan Grogol
Petamburan, West Jakarta between April 2015 Ameer R Faculty of Medicine Krida Wacana Christian University Abstract Stunting is a mayor health problem which illustrates delayed growth in children that caused by chronic malnutrition. According to WHO Child GrowthStandar, stunting is the state of the body is short and very short. Showed by 2-score height for age < -2SD. Based on Health Research in 2013 shows that national prevalenceof stunting in childrenwas 31.2%. The purpose of this study is to determine the prevalence of stunting in children under 5 years old and the corresponding factors in working region of Puskesmas Jelambar Baru, Kecamatan Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta between April 2015. The study used here is a descriptive study design with cross-sectional on height for age, maternal age, maternal education, mothers employment, mothers knowledge, family income, history of Ante Natal Care (ANC), complications during pregnancy, birth weight, history of exclusive breast feeding and dietary habit of children. The research subjects of the study were a total of 102 people. This analysis used in Chi-Square test and Fisher with significance level of 5% with 95% confidence level using SPSS v16. Statistical analysis showed significant association between stunting in children with maternal education (p= 0.005), family income (p= 0.030), mothers knowledge (p= 0.008), birth weight (p= 0.001), dietary habit (p= 0.028) and there was no association between maternal age (p= 0.924), mothers employment (p= 0.213), history of Ante Natal Care (p= 0.0716), complication during pregnancy (p= 0.231), history of exclusive breast feeding (p= 0.512) with stunting in children under 5 years in Puskesmas.
