Conditional Sentence

(Kalimat Pengandaian)

Conditional (Pengandaian) memiliki 3 bentuk:

Conditional Sentence Type 1: Pengandaian

ini menyatakan sesuatu yang mungkin
terjadi pada waktu mendatang ataupun
sekarang jika syarat/kondisi tertentu
terpenuhi.
Conditional Sentence Type 2: Pengandaian
ini menyatakan sesuatu yang bertentangan
dengan apa yang ada/terjadi sekarang.
Conditional Sentence Type 3: Pengandaian
ini menyatakan sesuatu yang bertentangan
dengan apa yang terjadi di waktu lampau.

 Type 1:
If + Subjek + V, Subjek + will + V1
If I have money, I will buy a new car.
If + Subjek + V1-s/es, + Subjek + V1s/es
If he has enough time, John usually walks to
school
If + Subjek + V1-s/es, Imperative
If you go to the post office, please mail this
letter for me!

 Type 2:
If + Subjek1 + V2, Subjek2 +
would/could/might + V1
If I had time, I would go to the party with
you this weekend.
He would tell you about it if he were here.
Catatan: Untuk If clause dalam bentuk
ini, semua subjek menggunakan to be
were.

 If pada conditional type 2 ini dapat

dihilangkan, yaitu dengan
penggunaan pola inversi:
Were + Subjek + adj/noun,
Subjek + would/could/might + V1
Were I John, I would not forgive you.

 Type 3:
If + Subjek + Had +V3, Subjek +
would/could/might + have + V3
If we had known that you were there, we would have
written you a letter.
Bentuk Inversi untuk pola ini adalah:
Had + Subjek + V3, Subjek +would/could/might
+have + V3
Had we known that you were there, we would have
written you a letter.
You wouldnt have won unless I had helped you.
