For Learning Outcome 1, I have been asked to; interpret the specific requirements of the
venue and the performers, specify a reinforcement system for the event, provide an Operational
Guide which indicates a procedure for the set up and summarise the health a safety
requirements for 2 events. The 2 events which I have been given are a Music Event consisting of
Drums, Bass Guitar, Electric Guitar, 2 Acoustic Guitars, an Accordion, Fiddle, Flute, Bhordran,
Cajon and 2 Vocalists with a budget of #25,000 and a Rock Band Event which consists of Drums,
Bass Guitar, 3 Electric Guitars, 2 Keyboards and 4 vocalists and a budget of #18,000
Event 1 Music Event
I have chosen a Presonus StudioLive 32.4.2AI desk for the first event. This is a hybrid
console meaning it is part Analog and part Digital. The desk has 32 channels and 32 analog
inserts as well as 32 line and mic inputs and 2 stereo auxiliary inputs. The desk also has a built in
compressor, limiter, noise gate, parametric and graphic equalizers and mute buttons for each
channels.
Operational Guide
To set up the system, you will need to connect the desk to the power supply. From there,
you attach the stage box to the desk. For Event 1 this is the prosnake MTS3208 -40BP multicore,
which doubles up as the stage box. For Event 4 you will need to use the sssnake cat75 to connect
the desk to the S16 stage box. Once the stage box it connected, add the crossovers. From there
you connect the power amps to the crossovers. Finally add the speakers, monitors and bass bins
to the power amps. Throughout the whole process; keep the connections consistent to save
confusion i.e output 1 > channel 1 > speaker 1. The power amps are always the last devices to
be turned on in the start up process and the first devices to be turned off in shut down.
