LESSON TITLE : PEOPLE AND SOCIETY
DURATION : 40 MIN.
TEXTBOOK : YOU CAN AND YOU WILL (*With the recommendation
of mentor teacher, we practice our book which we design in Material
Evaluation and Adaptation lesson to evaluate its effectiveness)
EQUIPMENT NEEDED : SMARTBOARD, TEXTBOOK
OBJECTIVES/GOALS :
1. At the end of the lesson, students will be able to give simple,
concrete instructions by using the direction markers. (turn right, turn
left, go straight, opposite, behind)
2. At the end of the lesson, students will be able to participate in
basic, simple, clear telephone conversation.
3. At the end of the lesson, students will be able to write questions
to ask for information.

PRE-LESSON (10 min.) :


The teacher comes to the class and greets the students. He
starts the lesson by telling a memory which is about the giving and
taking directions. When he finishes the memory, he asks students
what they will do if they get lost or how they give directions to other
people. By using their previous knowledge, the students try to give

answers and the teacher makes the questions more difficult when
students give an answer. After then, the teacher makes a
presentation about the directions and the other possibly unknown
words. When the presentation is finished, the students do the fill in
the blanks activity which is on the book.

WHILE LESSON (25 min.) :


Listening Activity (10 min.): When the presentation stage
finishes, the next activity is listening activity and the teacher
informs students about the activity; Now, youll listen to a record
and in the first listening stage, you try to find the main idea of the
text. In the second listening, youll do the activity A which is
ordering the sentences activity and activity B which is a fill in the
blanks activity. When activities are finished, the teacher checks
students answers and write them to the board.
Speaking Activity (10 min.): For the first speaking activity, the
teacher divides the class into pairs and explains the activity; In the
first activity, youll work as pairs and the first ones will fill the first
card and second ones will fill the second card. When you finish to
write, youll come to the stage and act your dialogues out. After the
first activity, in the second activity students will work as pairs,
again. By looking the map, theyll take notes according to their
personal need and as the previous activity, they will act it out on the
stage.
Reading Activity (5 min.): In the reading activity, the students
will read the short paragraphs and match them with the pictures.
The teacher checks students answers and write them to the board.
POST LESSON (5 min.) :
In the last part of the stage, the students are asked to do a
writing activity. The instruction for this activity is By using the
direction structures in first page, help the boy scout to find the way
to the camp. The students write the correct directions by looking at
the map and they are asked to upload their works to the page of
Blogger which is created by the teacher.

CLOSURE :
The teacher asks students the learned directions again and finishes
the lesson.
CONTINGENCY PLAN :
If the original plan doesnt work, the teacher draws a map to the
board and asks the directions of the shops.
