The Odysseus System Project

Statement of Work

Case Study 25: The Odysseus System Project

Purpose: Carillon Productions will manage a project for Dragone Drilling Technologies. Dragone
Drilling is the leading manufacturer of petroleum analysis tools and extraction equipment. Using
the new Odysseus system, it will allow automated calibration and on-site analysis. This system
will further collect data on site using a three stage system that will collect data on compositional
gradients and hydrate gases from potential drill sites.
Objective:

Carillon will produce training modules that will help engineers effectively and efficiently
use Odysseus System.

The module will be an interactive, self-study training module.

A needs assessment will be conducted first to resolve any problems with technology
adoption.

An additional two weeks will be allotted, prior to the three month final release of
Odysseus, for collection and analysis of need data given by Dragone Drilling Technology.

Constraints:

After obtaining the needs analysis, three months may need to be revised for Dragones
final release date.

Language barriers need to be addressed between engineers and Lompoc Technology

Group (LTG). They are the software development company Dragone Drilling Technologies
hires.

Assumptions: Although a beta test was run before, there seems to be issues with the Odysseus
system product. There needs to be clarification on whether updates will be made before
instructional needs are required. Updates that will include screen navigation, online help,
software functions and hardware concerns.
The type of training module that needs to be conducted may need to be revisited and revised
accordingly.
