GLOSSARY
Courses
‘Sequentially numbered blocks of insulation. Pamrod
Heads are installed in concentric circles or courses
around a center.
DR
Dish radius, also referred to as the crown radius.
HaTs™
Highly Advanced Thermal Systems. Trademark of
Pamrod Products Company.
Hemispherical Head
Asingle radius head where the Dish Radius is one
half of the vessel diameter. Sometimes referred to as
Bullet Heads,
1D
Inside diameter of head, or insulation
IDD
Inside depth of head dish
Inside Corner Radius, ICR
The Knuckle Radius, KR, of a vessel head. ASME
code heads, the ICR is a miminum of 6% of the head
diameter.
OAH or OH
Overall height of head.
oD
Outside diameter of head or insulation.
SF
Straight flange, the extension beyond the head tan-
gent, to weld the head to the shell.
Shallow Head
Anon-code head in which the Dish Radius is greater
than 100% of the diameter.
Standard Head
Annon-code head similar to a torispherical head,
‘except the ICR 's smaller than ASME Code allows.
Typically, the ICR is three times the head thickness
and the Dish Radius equals the diameter,
Torispherical Head
ASME fianged and dished head. Typically, the Dish
Radius equals the vessel diameter and the ICR is a
minimum of 6% of the diameter.
Vessel Skirt
On vertical vessels the skirt provides the support ta
hold the vessel upright. The bottom head is inside
the vessel skirt, and cannot be seen looking at the
vessel. Pamrod’s HATS™ are designed to minimize
‘ield cuts around the vessel head and the skirt.
