Crack
A narrow space between two surfaces which have broken or been moved
apart.
Crack is happen when the building is aged is too old and the building
component cannot sustain anymore such as wall, column, etc.
Collect the information about the defection the building and also check as
built drawing. Determine what type of equipment and tools needed for the
investigation which is vernier caliper.
Crack inspection
From the inspection, this building have suffers from several crack and
fraction problem. The walls at the ground floor and 1 st floor are obviously
crack and fraction can be seen on the wall clearly. The crack is determined
by vernier caliper to show its reading.

Problem
Crack defect condition not serious but fraction is more serious because many
synthesis
part of building have fraction such as at column and at window door frame.
Decision making Crack and fraction can cause many problem such as dampness and will
create a lot of side problem as peeling of paint.

Detailed Method crack defect (remedy):


i.
The cracked wall can be repaired by the Peter Coxs method
or applying caulk onto the gap or by coating the crack with
cement.
ii. Plaster and paint the wall with suitable painting.
